How does this compare to the Sonos deal we saw the other day?

Sonos has way better product support.

As this contains the surround modules, that would make this a 5.1.2 system, correct? Should the title be corrected to show this?

To those asking how it compares to SONOS - most reviewers will favor the SONOS, but really it's splitting hairs. Check Andrew Robinson's video on the 900 for a very thorough review. If I recall correctly, he seemed to indicate that the Atmos effects out of the 900 were somewhat subdued.

Good points.

Except Sonos continues to support their product line WAY longer than Bose.

I'm not sure who gave you a thumbs down, but if SONOS has done anything to earn my respect it's with their ridiculous level of support for their products. I know it's on their legacy app but I'm pretty sure even their earliest speakers are still supported which means they're supporting 14-15 yr old technology. In a manner of speaking anyway. That's unheard of, really.

I do find it frustrating that they've stonewalled Android users with their TruePlay room correction feature by making it iOS dependent, but mostly that's a small gripe. I think for most people it's probably 50/50 split between both this and the Arc. If people listen to music a lot, the Arc 5.1.2 will be a much better investment from ease of streaming, but if just using connected to a TV for general use and movie watching, there's probably not a ton of difference between the two products.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

I have this Bose kit and just an fyi, mine frequently disconnects from the tv audio. I have an LG OLED c1 65 using HDMI if that matters. Sometimes the Bose even requires a power reboot to play sound again. Very annoying and unacceptable for this price point. And by frequently I mean several times a week.

I would not purchase it again.

Thank you for sharing this! My Polk system did this and it was incredibly annoying, but the system was significantly cheaper. For this price point I agree, I wouldn't want to keep reconnecting/reconfiguring it.

Using LG OLED C9 for the past 2 years with Bose 5.1 with 900. 1-2 times I had to reboot but that's about it.
Also, it is true because it connects to a lot of different brands of tv so some sets may require some work so you may want to check your HDMI setting option.

Talking about streaming music, I never had any issues with my IOS device and now it supports Chrome case as well which I never tried.

I have never tried SONOS as well so can't really compare the audio quality between the two, but honestly, I never felt a need for it too. I am quite happy with Bose.

Their support is really nice, they are still supporting their 650-line home theater set up which is like 10 years ago.

I had been eyeing this setup for a while now and you finally made me stop looking at it because of your post. Thanks for saving me a ton of money and annoyances

I tried out this combo alongside Sonos Arc, Sub, Two One SLs, and ultimately took back the Bose. I'm not an audiophile so couldn't tell much difference between the sound. Though reviews at the time said Sonos is better for music with a wider sound stage due to the side firing speakers and Bose is better for dialog (there's been a Sonos update since then that claims to have improved dialog, but I couldn't tell a difference).

But for iPhone users, the integration is so much nicer with Sonos (e.g. playing the same music in multiple rooms, use Trueplay with your phone whereas Bose ADAPTiQ makes you wear some wired headset). Also the Sonos setup is more flexible: you can use the Sub in another room or the ones independently (can't say the same for Bose surround 700s).

With Era 300 as rears, I imagine the Sonos setup blows Bose out of the water. Though it's also considerably more expensive.

Same issue. I didnt bother to reset after it disconnected first time. Are newer OLEDs ok with this? Might switch to Samsung/Sony
