These tax refund deals should be banned. Most people break even or even get a tax refund. They will never see that $7,500. It's just false advertising at this point.
2024, it will be $7,500 off the price of the vehicle purchase price so no need for any of this.

Bolt is getting discontinued later this year, though.

You need two of these cars right away, if you plan to charge it with home charger.

did they reduce the price on the car further? or was it $26500 before and this is just a reminder of the cost of the car?

That's not how it works. Even if you break even, it's based on your tax liability. So I you paid 10k from your paycheck throughout the year, but we're still to "break even", this would then turn that to a return or $7500. Look for the line on your return that says TAX YOU OWE, and as long as it's 7500, you'll get the full credit.

I'm actually a bit confused by this as I also know it to be a tax credit. However, my friend recently purchased a Tesla M3 and they gave her $7.5k off the purchase price, so I'm genuinely confused.

If you paid over $7,500 in taxes, you're going to get a refund on it because it would mean you 'overpaid' for it. It being non-refundable means if you paid $0 in taxes, you won't be getting a $7,500 refund. But if you already paid the taxes, you'll get the refund once they deduct the $7,500 from your tax liability.

So Tesla Model 3 is 37800 - 7500 Fed Rebate - 2500 CA Rebate = 27800. I am not sure this Chevy is any good vs Tesla Model 3. One down side for Tesla M3 is new model is probably coming out in few months. However this Chevy Bolt is going to discontinue in 2024. I am going for Tesla M3 100%.

Yes. The deal is essentially the $7500 tax credit (rebate). Owning a GM is prob hit or miss. If it does not give issues, it's a very good deal for the affordability.
explain how it's hit or miss because it's a gm product.
