Hate when people include tax credits into price that not everyone qualifies for without all the info, it's a little misleading in these ev/Tesla threads. This requires a tax liability of $7500 or more that you get after you file and is not point of sale. Also max income of $150-300k for single/married filers to qualify. Also there is nothing new here, this is MSRP, info on tax credit, and the charger install was always included with bolt purchase (since Feb '21)

edit: For clarification from the wiki: "The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due."
So lower income people will not get a $7500 refund, it depends on your liability. i.e. A SDer responded about a student being angry in a previous thread that they only got $500 back and not $7500.

LOL no.

Virtually all of the ICE vehicle can be recycled. Generally the only items not recyclable per se will be interior trim - it's mixed plastic and rubber. Engine? steel or aluminum. Gearcases? Steel or aluminum. Body, frame, etc, steel or aluminum. In fact, about 86% of a car can be recycled [recyclenation.com].

Meanwhile your EV will still have a fully and readily recyclable frame and body, just like the ICE. The motor will generally be recyclable. The battery? Not really. Generally batteries and battery packs are not really designed for recycling. Most are just thousands of individual cylindrical cells, that themselves are spiral wound multilayer structures. There's no easy way to separate the materials here. An ICE, you literally rip out the engine with heavy equipment and include it in with any other steel or aluminum - the process is astonishingly easy and quick [youtube.com] with heavy equipment.

Meanwhile, the batteries are generally just shredded [ucsusa.org]. The resulting material is called "black mass" and is placed into a bath of caustic chemicals to leech out the *important* elements. In certain cases, that black mass is first incinerated to burn off plastic and epoxies. Yeah that sounds super efficient and environmental to me.

So basically these cars could simply be like you iphone or Guarraty disposable product. Please upgrade and throw your old one in the trash. So much for saving the environment and saving money.

I spent 3 months and even paid for a car buying service (Tom Parland) to find me two Bolt EVs at msrp. Nothing at all. Gave up and bought a couple of Tesla Model 3s in April instead. I hated on Tesla beforehand because of all the horror stories about build quality, etc but so far the Teslas have been impressive. I don't think I regret giving up on the Bolt EV especially w them being discontinued shortly.

You want it, pay or it. They're not scum for charging market rate.
They are when they add no value to the process and the entire point of their existence is to milk the customer for as much money as possible.

you found ONE yahoo who denies putting a cleaner on his seat but has a stain and that's your reference for claiming the seats have a problem🤣

the main difference being ignored here is that the model 3 is a pleasant drive... the bolt is not

i know - i know - everyone has an opinion but i own neither but have driven both and the Bolt is an absolute penalty box to drive in direct comparison.

in a vacuum: the bolt is fine, compared with comparable crap boxes it's fine - but it's not comparable with any other (non-leaf) ev im aware of
I agree. I test drove a Bolt EUV, EV, Ioniq, Polesar and by far, Tesla offering is the best. Better charging options on road trips, also the cameras with onboard dash camera and sentry mode are well worth the $10 monthly premium. Currently most of the add-ons can be taken on/off at your leisure. Other cars have either a one time charge that you must opt in for in the beginning (and maintain) or lose forever. Cabin noise and suspension is trash on the Chevy. If having an ev is all your concerned about, it's a decent car. But Musk and Team did a very good job at engineering this car for a company brand new to the market

Is there a list of dealers that don't charge markup?

This deal is not really $19k as you have to pay $27,000 + taxes and fees + destination charge + dealer markup - up to $7500

If you don't like the dealership business model, shop a brand that doesn't use them. Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, and Polestar for starters. Then contact your state representatives and demand rewrites of all dealership/franchise laws to end the dealership monopoly. If that's all too much for you, then stop the name calling nastiness.
You have no clue how it works, lol.

dealerships have crazy unions and lobbyists. In some local districts, they are the #1 employer so they have lots of leverage. Politicians bend over backwards for them which is why some states ban Tesla from selling directly to consumers.

"nastiness"

If dealerships are so useful, why not give consumers an option? If consumers want to buy direct, they can do so. If they want to pay a markup, they can go to a dealership. But we all know why that won't happen...

overwhelmingly, people would rather pay the stated price than go to a dealership. That's a fact. Don't be silly.

So I bought the EUV two weeks ago. I drive 45 miles each way to work and charge it at work. Takes 7 hours to charge so it's no big deal at work. I got the premier version of the EUV so it has the ventilation seats. I need that here in Palm Springs!

It's a good car. My tween kids fit comfortably in it and the ride is smooth. The trunk space fits grocery bags but not much else. Most of the space is given to passengers so if you need a trunk keep that in mind.

I've put nearly 1k miles on it and the only gripe I have is how the bump under the seat hiding the motor for the power seat isn't under the seat when you move it back so my feet rest on the bump and not on the floor. Silly I know but it's really the only annoying thing.

I got this because the payment is basically what my gas bill was each month (slightly less actually) so it's a net positive from my old car. The home charger install seems to take awhile since they have to file permits to install the 240v outlet and charger. Charging at home is a no go since it takes 18 hours on a regular plug.

Overall very satisfied with the car. Good luck finding one as they go quickly when they get in stock. For a discontinued car they are very popular and because it's so cheap in 3 years when the warranty goes it will be replaced. Plus the battery is a 10 year warranty so that's covered

The more than $10k difference for this versus a Tesla or Kia is a big plus. Really not that much different in bells and whistles for stuff you use everyday. Plus insurance is much cheaper. I would recommend this car for people wanting an EV

This is a common misconception. Withholdings only affect how much you may additionally owe by tax time, but doesn't actually affect your tax liability. If you meet the income requirements and your liability => $7500, you will get the full $7500 back either as a refund (if you withheld too much) or towards your liability.
This.

Basically, if you make 67-150k you get the full 7500 back.

Nahhh - Prius still looks like a total dork mobile, even after the re-design.

Absolutely the most affordable long range EV you can buy.
259 miles of all electric range.

By far the best around town car for the money. Most drivers average 4.5 miles per kwh which gives this 66kwh battery a real world range of 300 miles depending on how you drive. One of the most efficient EV's you can drive (smaller size saves more energy).

https://www.chevrolet.com/electric/bolt-ev

Home charger free installation info:
Home charging installation promotion includes purchase and installation of a 240V outlet (NEMA 14-50 outlet and new 40-amp breaker in existing panel) from a GM selected vendor. Installation must be located at customer's primary residence as reported in the customer's vehicle purchase order.

100% qualifies for the $7500 Federal tax credit: https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/tax2023.shtml.

Stack with State rebates to really make this a deal:
Example: $5000 state credit from Colorado or NJ can make this a $14000 brand new EV with a free home charger.

Edit:
Some have made the point that GM has had their past Bolts recalled out of an abundance of caution due to a small amount of Bolts having caught fire due to the LG battery manufacturing error.

Let's address how amazingly ethical GM has been in protecting their customers even if it meant loosing $ on the bottom line (something another prominent EV company would never do).
GM recalled EVERY SINGLE BOLT EVER SOLD, no matter the mileage, no matter the condition and give every one of these cars brand spanking new battery upgrades. Not only did they replace the battery, they provided an upgraded battery with a higher energy density AND a new 10 year/ 100k mile warranty.

Let's compare to Tesla who has had way more fires than every Bolt ever has, they have stayed quiet on the issue and will likely never recall.
Here are a archive of Tesla fires which many do not involve a collision: https://www.tesla-fire.com/ Do your own research.

Which company would you feel more comfortable with if you had an issue with your vehicle?
According to

https://dep.nj.gov/drivegreen/aff...new-jersey

and

https://chargeup.njcleanenergy.com/

The Charge Up New Jersey program to incentivize electric vehicles has paused as of April 17th, 2023. Dealerships and showrooms had until 9:00pm EST on Monday, May 1st, 2023 to enter all eligible orders from July 25th, 2022 to April 17th, 2023.

Currently, no additional funds are anticipated for FY 23. However, we will keep you updated on information regarding FY 24 funding for Charge Up New Jersey as directed by the NJ Board of Public Utilities.

The Charge Up Residential Charger Rebate remains active and is not impacted by the pause in the EV incentive program.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact CSE at [email protected] or call 877-426-2474.

No more $4000 from NJ incentivize EV for now.
Is there any news on when NJ will resume this $4000 EV program?
