I have the 4080 as and it's been great. Love that it's not huge.

This is concerning for me since GDDR6 is rated at up to 95C for normal operation, and in some cases up to 100C. Yet mine is exceeding the VRAM manufacturers own specs. Continued operation at the VRAM temperature that I'm seeing (using HWinfo) will cause the VRAM to fail.
I've got a repair order in, and they're waiting on a part which has been backordered going on two weeks now. I assume that they're going to replace the whole vapor chamber assembly. This model has a large vapor chamber that covers both the CPU and the GPU, and they used liquid metal TIM on the CPU (which is why I didn't take it apart to try and adjust the VRAM thermal pads).
For what it's worth, if that $2200 deal comes back for the 4080 version, it's probably the better buy. Also, I've heard that other folks did NOT have this high of a VRAM temperature, so I likely got one that passed through QC with a VRAM chip not fully covered by a thermal pad.
EDIT: And the stock RAM runs at 5600 CL50, which isn't all that great. But be warned that not all RAM kits will run at max speed should you upgrade. For example, the 64GB 5600MHz CL40 KF556S40IBK2-64 Kingston Fury kit that I got to upgrade my laptop runs at 5200 CL38 with the latest BIOS update.
