If you're already subscribed to GPU, it will prorate to 50 days for each 3-month of Live Gold. It's 1:1 with new and expired accounts

In a nutshell...Activate up to 3 years of live. Then buy 1 month of gpu. When you redeem the month of gpu xbox will ask if you want to convert all 3 years of live to gpu for free.

Wait for your GPU to expire, then load enough codes to get 3 years of Live Gold, then pay the $15 to convert to GPU 1:1. You might be able to find a (cheaper) 1 month GPU code to do the conversion (those also work)

Only have about another month or so left before my GPU subscription lapses. I almost wonder if it's a better idea at this point to just sign up for a new Xbox account, get this deal, and not have to hope that there will be a better deal after my current GPU subscription lapses...

Perfect. I will wait for it to expire. My son was not even in a hurry for Gold. Most of the games he plays I have purchased when on sale. So we will see what happens after it expires and see if it makes a difference for him.

Eh just wait. 3month Xbox Live Gold codes are routinely on sale for $9 - $10 on CDKeys and Eneba. Sure you pay a few bucks more, but you don't have to create another account.
