I'm a woodworker hobbyist (although it has been a long time since I made anything) and I often buy something pre-made rather than do it myself since the amount of time and space required to do it myself is a far greater cost than just buying something that needs assembly.
I wouldn't cut directly on it.
Probably about the same or more than the deal price depending on location and lumber prices. Factor in hardware and lumber costs and you'd be hard pressed to build this for less than $85.

Depends on your use. Furniture - use polyurethane or tung oil. Potter - any left over decker sealer
I just assembled mine last night. This thing is solid and has a high build quality. The back has the option to be up or down. I put my small Q2000 BBQ on it and it just opens all the way if you have the BBQ held toward the front.
Assembly took maybe 15-20min.
Does the back side only sit vertically? Either completely down or completely up? I'm wondering if you could make it sit horizontally and thus make it a larger table in a sense.
I was wondering the same thing, instructions indicate that you have to pick a permanent position when assembling. Could always switch it up later, but it's not on a hinge or adjustable from what I can tell.
