Some ace stores have it for 649….search around
I bought into EGO a few years ago, but after all the Battery Pack fails that they failed to stand behind, I am searching for an alternative. Preferably a cheaper one.
And if you do get a bad battery, they replace with a 'refurb' and will not extend the warranty. No bueno.
I'm getting tired of pounding sand, with parried warranty claims.

I dream for consumers to get a universal battery pack, with replaceable cells and put an end to this proprietary Capitalist abuse. Now THAT is legislation that I could get behind.
I went from a gas mower to an Ego a few years back. I expected it to not be as strong as the gas mower, but I was tired of all the maintenance required for the gas engine.

Well, it turns out the Ego far exceeded my expectations and beat my old gas mower on performance hands down. It's not even close. I let my grass get pretty long between cuts, and the Ego cuts through it with no problem whatever, even in cases where the gas mower sometimes struggled. The torque is just unbelievable.

I can't say enough good things about this mower. Mowing is so much less of a chore now. Much like we're seeing with cars, electric motors have a big torque advantage over old gasoline engines. And the maintenance is virtually nonexistent. No more oil changes or trips to the gas station to fill up gasoline containers. It starts up every time reliably.

Two blades, bigger battery, faster charger. Everything better and I have an older self propelled 1st gen.

Tempted but I hear that if the grass is long, it'll struggle more so compared to gas mower. I have a tendency to leave grass slightly long.
I purchased this exact model last year from Lowe's on Father's Day, was waiting for a sale that never happened but did have a 10% off. I have no issues with long thick grass and the cut still looks very clean especially if using the High lift blade. However, if that tall thick grass is wet it cuts the battery life dramatically like up to 50%.

I have a large steep hill that runs the full length of my almost 1/2 acre backyard and the torque and power make easy work of it, even better than my old Toro mulcher with B&S gas motor.

The issues I have with this mower are that even though it comes with the Rapid Charger when you need a fresh battery you still have to wait. I use my 5.0 Ah battery as a backup and it still provides plenty of power. So I will cut with the 10 Ah run it until dead and then edge, weed wack and blow while the 10 recharges about an hour. If you have a smaller yard you will have no issues unless the grass is tall and wet.

Other nit picks are: the speed control dial is too easily changed especially if you cut under shrubs and bushes, the first time this happened to me I thought the mower died as I had no movement of the mower. Ego redesigned the dial but from what I read the new control has worse issues and is to be avoided. This mower is FAST I run it at 1/2 - 1 MPH below max speed. The self propel controls are poorly placed IMO and take some time getting used to and these were also redesigned in the new model probably based on customer feedback.

Also the mulching blade leaves stripes so you have to overlap the cut which takes more time. The battery saver blade doesn't cut as clean and the Hi lift blade which is great for bagging leaves in the fall drains the battery in comparison to the other two options.

I really like the mower and it cut 20 minutes off of my mowing time compared to the Toro. The deck height adjustment is so easy, but I have seen others complain that you can not set the wheel height individually if you are cutting uneven areas, but not an issue for me. It folds up compact for storage and cleaning is a breeze.

Too bad we can't get sales any longer like the Home Depot clearance...I picked up the self-propelled model with 7.5ah for $299 and it's still going strong.

Costco has the 80v Greenworks on sale from time to time for $449 with 2x 4.0 Ah batteries. They advertise 1x 2.0 and 1x 4.0 but those of us that purchased during the holidays received 2x 4.0. Cuts long grass great and the batteries last plus 8 year battery warranty.

I would jump on this if I didn't already have an ego power select cut. Read this is more powerful. Had a gas brute 200cc. It was fine but missing features. I don't regret going with ego one bit. Had some long grass and it powered through without idling. My gas one would idle at times. I've only had it one season but so far no problems and only great things to say about it. Also I prefer ego to the greenworks

This is Slick. For me it was down to this or their latest top of the line model (I think it's the 2167sp). I read that the 2167sp dropped the manual self propel for a smart version that does it automatically but it's iffy. It was a hard choice considering the extra 12ah battery but I usually finish my lawn with the 10ah.

Ultimately I went with this and I would totally buy it at this price

edit:

came back to this.thread to see the discussion taking place and there's a lot of FUD going around that I can clear up.

1. this is more powerful than all of my old gas mowers
2. it can cut through leaves, twigs and sticks easily.
3. battery life is fine 5 months in
4. I haven't had any issues with tall grass. I cut low in the spring and high in the summer and both have been fine.

on the other hand, longer grass will hide more clippings. I tend to cut on the high side but often and when it's dry. Any debris can be blow in. I set my Select Cut on 3 for weekly cut. I mow for nearly an hour with mulching blade on 7.5Ah

Don't buy this if you have lots twigs in your yard. It can't pick them up and chop them the way a gas mower does. I bought this and returned it for this reason.
