It's the only chipset that allows both sata and nvme.

Do they offer free system or disk clone softwares? If not, it may make sense to spend a little more to get one that comes with such software.

Sorry no. I ordered last go-around. Just a little quick start leaflet included. Nothing indicated on the box.

Maybe check their website. There used to be several free(trail) cloning software sites.

This is the same price when I ordered mine last Xmas. I use it along with crucial P3+ 2TB M.2 SSD. I never updated the firmware so far and it works fine. The P3+ speed is limited to this USB enclosure. I do not even see a lot improvement when compare to my old Toshiba 2TB external HD.

Macrium has a free version for cloning. It is eol Jan 2024 but you can use it up til then. It will work afterwards but no security updates.

Paragon Backup & Recovery has a free version.

Just bought a similar enclosure from this company on Newegg for $9.99. Need it to clone my steam deck.

Does this enclosure have better chipset than the Newegg one below if I only use it for NVMe drives?

I bought this version from newegg last month, can't seem to get it to read my m.2 sata. The nvme drive works however. Oh and the included cable is terrible, very slow.
