Yeah, the 8GB/256GB MacBooks are just glorified iPads with keyboards attached. Good for most basic work, but definitely not workstations. Funny thing is that my S22 Ultra has more RAM (12GB), and my base S22 ($300 Google Fi deal) has the same RAM and SSD as the $1300 MBA 15.

I got into the same question. Before this deal, both machines best deal is ~$1100. The main differences for this one and the refurbished one are:

1. i7 12700H vs 6800H
2. 32 GB DDR4 vs 16 GB DDR5
3. 3070 vs 3070 TI
4. FHD VS QHD
5. 2 yrs Warranty vs 1 yr Warranty
6. Micron 2210 vs 3400

For the same price, I choose this one and return the refurbished one, not to mention an extra $100 discount for the bestbuy deal.

P.S. another reason I didn't keep the refurbished one is the battery already drop around 10% of original capacity, not feeling very good for it while the SSD stated online hours only twenty something. Although the battery should be covered by warranty anyways.

Keyboard lights color are adjustable by 4 zones.
