To get a well-equipped model with 1TB, the price is $1609 WITH the ed. discount and gift card (that you can buy only other overpriced Mac stuff with). This is typical Tim Apple hype: horribly underpowered computer price points and kill people with the cost of upgrades: 3-4 times the price of equipping a Windows machine with extra storage and RAM.
So, I'll be holding on to my mid-2015 MBPro happily running Mojave for quite a while yet.
Which Digital Trends says to avoid. 'Nuff said.

Until reviewers tear it down and see what's in it, we must presume the base Air will be afflicted the same way as its predecessor: "Similar to the MacBook Air M2, Apple went cheap on the SSD for the 256GB [Mini]l. It uses a single NAND chip for storage, resulting in up to 50% slower SSD performance. The MacBook Pro M2 Pro has this same issue, which is a big reason why reviewers are saying to avoid the 256GB model."
But Tim Apple fanboys will be fanboys.

Before speaking on product performance. Please test it for yourself. Apple's new M series computers run laps around any Windows machine I have ever owned. I am a long-time user of Windows and will recommend these new Macbooks to anyone.
