Not sure what your question is exactly. The USB-C to MagSafe cable and power adapter are always included and do not have to be bought separately.

these aren't like their windows counterpart, they utilize ram extremely well. 8gb is plenty for the vast majority of people and is totally future proof
On the surface sure, but wait until you use it for a while and look at the disk write cycle. You will be shocked by how many write cycles it has churned through since with 8GB ram, it has to excessively rely on swapping memory to the disk.

How do I know? I used my 8GB for over a year and it's registered over several hundred TBs of writes? God knows how much long the SSD can survive?

Absolutely wrong. I have the base mode m1 air. 8gb w 256gb SSD. The system writes to disk constantly since 8gb ram isn't enough. The limited SSD space also means your TBW values on disk are not great.

If you are planning to use this machine for browsing the web, you can get something much cheaper that will do just fine.

If you do need something with the M1/M2 chips, please do not get anything under 16gb/512gb combo for long term viability.

I still really like my 13inch M1 Macbook air with 8/256gb config to pay bills or to quickly look up something my phone is too small for. I bought it at $639 open box from BestBuy. That is a reasonable price for this configuration. Any more is basically a waste of money.

$1429 after the GC for the 16gb/512...is it worth getting instead of the 16 in deal from Costco on the MBP M1 16gb/512 for 1499?

That's really interesting! Although I heard the excessive SSD wear for M1 Mac was due to MacOS reporting error in S.M.A.R.T. The latest MacOS fixed this issue. Would you mind to check again after upgrading to Ventura? That information would be super helpful for some of us to make purchasing decisions. Thanks!

I have $400 in Apple GC but I can only use them if I pay in full.
No option to use GC if I check out using payments.
Anyone know how to get around this issue?
Might be able to call them to apply the gift balance?

You're basically buying the GC but the laptop gets discounted so total is still the same

$1199 laptop w/ free $150 GC is broken down as:
$1049 laptop + $150 GC = $1199

Unix system uses memory extremely more efficient than Windows, this is Fact. You see it in Apple Phones, Tablets, to their computers. If you own a MBP as you say, then you know this/
