This book wasn't great (I read it when it came out), but if you've enjoyed Klosterman's previous work, you'll enjoy this for $2.

Read this in our book club a few months back. Really interesting and I actually learned a lot about stuff I vaguely knew about but was too young to understand at the time. Easy recommend.

I can't wait for the book on the 2020s: An AI Interpretation of Stuff that May or May Not have Happened.

The 90s...
We dressed like we didn't care...
We made music like we didn't care...
We did you the favor of rap and hip hop...
We did you the disservice of reality tv...
We got you from one bush to the next...
And conversations about cigars will never be the same.
Save your two bucks it's not worth it
Especially if the book tries to give the 90's credit for rap and hip hop which were more like late-70's, early 80's.

This is a really good book, especially for older millennials like me who grew up during this time and didn't fully appreciate the context of the time in which we were living. The author also appeared on my wife's radio show (https://www.livewireradio.org/events/20220616), and I'm biased but I think it was great.

It doesn't. Chuck Klosterman is a very thorough researcher and goes back in time to create context for a lot of what happened in that decade.
