I mean, $15.88 and Home Depot will ship them to you for free... yeah, they're on the smaller side at 5 1/2" - but, not much you can buy from Knipex for less than $16, let alone less than $16 shipped. Also, take a look at the Rockwell Hardness on the cutting edges... a 60 HRC is premium Japanese chef knife type Rockwell Hardness. At 140 mm they are almost exactly 5.5 inches (5.51181 inches, to be exact).

A tool designed with your hand in mind. Even more power for easier working. KNIPEX quality-engineered and manufactured in Germany. Combination Pliers with optimum position of the joint facilitate cutting as well as powerful gripping, bending, and pulling. Features gripping zones for flat or round material and induction-hardened cutting edges that cut soft, hard, and piano wire. Also features long cutting edges for thicker cables. 35% savings in power due to new and improved lever action. Manufactured from high-grade special tool steel that is forged and oil-hardened. KNIPEX specializes in the development and production of high-quality pliers and is Europe's leading manufacturer of these products. It all started back in 1882 when C. Gustav Putsch set up his own forge shop in Cronenberg (now a suburb of Wuppertal). We are an independent fourth-generation family company. KNIPEX concentrates our knowledge and expertise on pliers. This is the only way to justify our claim that we are the best supplier in terms of quality, innovation and efficiency. Our success is assured by 800 qualified employees and we attach the greatest importance to their basic and advanced training.
  • 60 HRC induction hardened precision cutting edges to easily cut soft, hard, piano, and ACSR wire
  • Made in Germany
  • Black atramentized chrome vanadium heavy-duty electric steel, forged, and multi-stage oil-hardened
  • Gripping zones appropriate for both flat and round material for versatility
  • Non-slip plastic coated insulated handles
  • Long cutting edges for thicker cables
  • 53 HRC wear resistant gripping jaws
  • Heaviest duty
  • Limited lifetime warranty, any product manufactured by KNIPEX that fails due to workmanship or materials will be replaced at no charge

Well, I mean... If you're going to twist my arm like that, fine, I'll buy them. Geez, why you gotta be so mean?

But seriously, I need to uninstall this damn app. I love all my Knipex pliers I have collected but this is getting ridiculous.

Sweet deal OP - Especially with free shipping. Some of the cheapest pricing I've seen so far on Knipex pliers. I grabbed the posted pair as well as a set of 7" combination pliers. Thanks.

Would someone tell me how these are better than the pair I picked up at Dollar Tree? They're pliers. They have one job, and they either work or they don't.

I appreciate quality over quantity. I can appreciate a fine meal or a fine suit and paying a premium for a quality product. But in this case it seems you're just paying for the brand akin to a white tee for $40 because it's got a tag that says it's Kanye's brand.

Have you used a cheap ass pliers from harbor freight or "dollar tree" where the metal cracked/broke as you were trying to use the tool? Cheap metal. Is the knipex tool worth the added cost if you use the tool often enough and don't won't a tool failure - then yes. Otherwise keep buying the cheaper tool if you rarely use it

Frequency of use is definitely a factor for me. Or in my case, infrequency. I find myself making use of pliers maybe once or twice a year, if even that. So point taken. If I used them regularly I'd spurge on something better.
