Good luck finding a Hyundai dealership that isn't marking up 7.5k to negate the credit. Tried to buy one last year and they marked up anywhere from 2k minimum to 8k with add-ons.

Hyundai actually found the issue, it was an app that sent a bunch of information/stayed connected when the car is off. Teslas have a worse issue which is phantom drain, since the car stays connected for connectivity/app usage it drains the main drive battery. Ends up making the car horribly inefficient. People come back to their cars with way less drivable range.

You cannot buyout Tesla leases, not that you would want to after you experience the shoddy workmanship of those things.

Most people have old homes and some have detached garages, so they will literally need to rewire the whole house.
In my case, the power comes into the main 100amp panel on the side of the detached garage and then goes to the house's 100amp subpanel. If you do need more juice for your EV, you will up the main breaker panel to 200 amps in this situation. The EV breaker would come off the main panel. Not sure why the whole house would need to be rewired.

I'm actually replacing both my panels next week, but even so, my whole house isn't getting rewired. Just the panels are getting swapped.

This is equivalent to a $470 monthly payment with no money down. You should never put money down on a lease.

Great deal if it was a reliable brand like Toyota or Honda.

In some states (at least mine), I don't think it works this way. In states that charges tax up front on a lease, you are gonna get double taxed. This is what I was told by the finance person at the bmw dealer. Since they were able to get me a deal buying vs leasing with only a difference of few thousands, the double tax negated the lease deal, so I went with buying. This is in Texas. I would love it someone prove me wrong.
In Texas, I think you are correct that we have double tax.

But I stumbled upon this article [nexustaxdefense.com]and wasn't sure if there is an exception for lease buyouts

Can you pay and end the lease early without penalty?

They're all the same until approximately 100k miles, where Hyundai's tend to break down.

I want that car so f'n bad, the Ionic hatchback, don't care if its a cloth model. Are used cars still being over valued? I'd need a dealer to trade more than what I still owe... or more plus enough for a down payment on the lease. Going without a car for a few weeks selling it privately then hunting for new one ain't in the cards. Maybe if they're desperate to move new vehicles, get a new brand customer, and knowing my trade is a very popular car with only 50k miles that'd bring in ten grand more than whats still owed. I still see big dealers selling like Ford Fusions with 80k miles for $25 grand so my SUV has gotta be a moneymaker for the dealer I imagine.
Just picked up a 23 SEL in Shooting Star, when you get yours you're gonna absolutely LOVE it!!

Point is, it's not a good idea to buy one of these EVs since they will depreciate like crazy.
You think you get a discount, but the discount will also be there for future buyers of newer, better EVs.

Anyways. The i4 gets great reviews. Like a Model 3 that's actually nice inside and handles well.

The VW just looks silly.
For me at least, not true. Got a MachE in 2021 at mrsp, got 7500 credit sold it to vroom for what I paid in feb2022 Then got Ioniq 5Sel, in feb2022 at mrsp, got tax credit sold it to driveway at mrsp. Then got MYLR in Jan 2023 when prices fell and rebates applied. So net net I have driven 3 new cars for net gain for last 2 years. ( not to mention I sold a Mercedes glc 300 above the buyout on lease to get the Mach e in 2021. Paramus ford, Millenium Hyundai just sold the cars at mrsp without problem when it was rampant for markups. My wife's Kona ev lease was in spring 2021 and was a great deal, at that point it seemed cars were stopped selling so offered well below mrsp, just license title destination 179 a month and a nj rebate. Need to look into next car for spring 2024. Millenium Hyundai gets kudos again. Seems like buyout is below bids from vroom etc. but I am waiting for 2024 Kona ev or new 2024 Volvo ex

Writing "$332/mo" is stupid.

May as well write "free" with $16,960 down.

Couldn't agree more. If you can, don't lease unless you can't take advantage of the 7500 tax credit. If you can't do the tax credit, it may be your only way of taking advantage of the incentive.
