I've got 2 Canon inoperative 'paperweights' and ever since I bought a Brother (model MFC-L2750DW) I'll never buy another Canon for as long as I live.

Agree. My Brother printer broke down after 10 years of moderate use .
No other printer will survive 10 years.

I have heard too many bad things about Canon printers and ink/toner problems down the road. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I bought this model refurb off brother for 143 and it's been great. Prints fast and the scan quality is nice. Seems solid. The software is a little annoying but what printer software isnt.

I've got older 2550DW, love it and AirPrint is amazing. Although scanner is a must have, this does not have automatic document feeder (single-sided), which has proved to be way more useful than I anticipated.

I scan my important docs to pdf and store offline.

I have a 2395DW refurb and love it. Fast, reliable, cheap toner, worth every penny that I paid. My wife has abandoned her behemoth HP officejet (and it's pricey ink) and does most of her work with the Brother now.
