Actually there are many reasons why PS/2 still exists. Many corporate machines have all USB ports turned off to prevent outside USB drives from being connected and data stolen or viruses introduced. It's not hurting anything by being there, just something else for people to whine about.

Maybe someone is still using the ball mouse that needs to be cleaned often lol, I can kind of understand serial port since there are some devices that use it for communications but PS/2 is literally "ancient" by now.

I found a minty Packard Bell KB at a thrift shop not long ago so the PS/2 port came in handy on my Optiplex. I also use an ancient KVM and the PS2 ports help to keep those from becoming obsolete. A lot of networked computers in corporationland serve mostly as glorified dumb terminals that, as you say, are locked down into oblivion, no USB, no tweaking, no user access to C: drive, etc.

These are enterprise level machines. Not for home use. That is the reason for the various ports.

That's really interesting. So, what do corporations do now since PS/2 ports are NOT on any Opliplex for many years? Did that security concern suddenly disappear just like the port did?
