Small but still designed to look like a gas car with too much high blocky hood length and almost no frunk utilization.
Polestar and Volvo could step away from traditional gas car design language. For this car you have a pointless for function long hood. You suffer inside because of that misplaced priority with the unnecessary limitation of back seat legroom and less wheelbase. An MG4 is the car to compare for current design of an ev. Good rear legroom. It's got a 2705mm wheelbase vs. 2650mm for this Volvo. 2 inches right there. 4287mm length vs. 4233mm for the EX30. The difference shows in the back door dimension.

Still not too late to cancel your Model 3 order if you FOMO'd into that. This Volvo is worth the wait and wipes the floor of Tesla for less money with much better quality.

The 2022-2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV appears to be slightly larger than this Volvo.

I don't understand how it does not qualify for the tax credit but it does for the lease, even though you want to purchase it..
It's a dumb loophole. $7500 for us assembled purchases but $7500 for all leases.

Dang, the EV options are coming at us fast... Decisions, decisions. Not sure I can wait until next summer for this one. Looking at a Bolt or a Camry hybrid but need it by September-November.

Seriously considering this. Wife and I don't qualify for the federal tax credit, and we really don't wanna shell out 40k+ for a car.

I think my only EV options are this, the leaf, the Bolt and several Korean offerings.

We can't be the only ones, right?
I'm in the same boat. While I haven't confirmed the info on this page, it seems a lot of dealers are offering this on foreign builds to incentivize sales. I was pretty bummed knowing I didn't qualify for the credit, but now I'm looking at some options for the lease rebate and then buying out the lease.

What's not clear about the Volvo is if the rebate will be available when your car is ready. I guess I could sign up, keep tabs on the offers, and just cancel if the lease rebate is not honored. I assume I can cancel even when my car comes in if I don't like it after a test drive. I haven't done the "sign up and wait" for a car yet. Hopefully they will be in stock at a local dealer for a test drive Q1 of 2024.

I actually like the wait time as it will give me time to shop around. I also have two cars I'd want to sell rather than trade. As long as the rebate is still around I like the wait time.

After recently doing a lot of research on hybrid/electric vehicles I landed on a Tesla. Maybe I missed it but the figure I saw for this was 0-60 in as low as 3.4 seconds. What do you actually get for 35k? I initially thought that all mach e's were fast as well as polestars. It turns out with both of them the base models are quite slow.

Wipes the floor? The range is really bad compared to a Model 3 LR. I don't get why EV companies are coming out with these EV vehicles with such poor range. I guess if you only charge at home, but non Tesla chargers are horrible in the US right now and I would only buy a Tesla until the non Tesla charging network vastly improves in number of stations and reliability.

For me it's just about the perfect commuter/around town car. Zippy acceleration but 4+ miles/kwh easily. Plenty of 2nd row room for kids/car seats or even adults, and decent enough rear cargo space. Pretty good standard features and interior quality (for a GM at least).

Also it depends on battery tech and degradation. Tesla battery is at least a gen ahead if not two. Volvo will def have the build and fit in their pocket but not every Tesla is falling apart.

People should looking at polestar as a reference of how this far would fair "long term" since they are a Volvo company.

Model 3 sedan will definitely have less room than this SUV. It also has way better performance figures than the Tesla. It'll also last much longer seeing that it's a higher quality vehicle.
Not a Tesla fanboy (just traded my Model S in) but why do you think model 3 will definitely have less room? This Volvo is like a subcompact crossover. Other than cargo room with the 2nd row folded down, as far as passenger room, m3 should have a little more room. Have you ever sat in the model 3?

Higher quality fit and finish does not make it more "reliable". Most european brands have high fit and finish quality, but most have below average reliability especially when it comes to electronics and that includes Volvo. Consumer report rates Volvo as average to below average for reliability. They rate the model 3 as average in reliability.
