Small but still designed to look like a gas car with too much high blocky hood length and almost no frunk utilization.
Polestar and Volvo could step away from traditional gas car design language. For this car you have a pointless for function long hood. You suffer inside because of that misplaced priority with the unnecessary limitation of back seat legroom and less wheelbase. An MG4 is the car to compare for current design of an ev. Good rear legroom. It's got a 2705mm wheelbase vs. 2650mm for this Volvo. 2 inches right there. 4287mm length vs. 4233mm for the EX30. The difference shows in the back door dimension.

Still not too late to cancel your Model 3 order if you FOMO'd into that. This Volvo is worth the wait and wipes the floor of Tesla for less money with much better quality.

My first car was a hand me down 63 PV544.
Great car, only problem was the dual side draft SU carbs.
Required constant tweaking.

No physical buttons is a no go for me. Tried that route on a friends tesla and hated it. I want actual buttons for climate and radio. Also no interest in 'reserving' a car, even if deposit is refundable, when I know nothing yet on final pricing, fees, lease residual, money factor, etc, etc.

Anyone have a helpful resource on utilizing the lease option if you are over the income cap for an immediate purchase?

Do volvo make their own batteries or get it from Korea/China? Any information on the quality of batteries and range degradation compared to Tesla batteries?

Volvo uses Chinese battery which lasts 10 more years ...
Tesla also uses Chinese battery for Canada or Europe market....

Back seats looks tight. Model 3 might have more e
leg room.

Glad to see sane pricing though.

Model 3 sedan will definitely have less room than this SUV. It also has way better performance figures than the Tesla. It'll also last much longer seeing that it's a higher quality vehicle.
OP, please stop spreading misinformation. Based on your Ioniq thread and now this, it's quite clear that you are anti-Tesla.But that doesn't mean you should be spreading false info though. A small hatchback that is nearly two feet shorter than the Model 3 is not going to have more room. Performance figures are for the top-end model, which is going to be way more than $35k. This is an all-new model, you don't know if it will last longer or not. Please get your facts right and don't let your personal opinions bleed through.

Tough situation, making too much money. If you are married and have a two-income household, downgrade your income with a divorce maybe? That usually does the trick.

Exactly. While electrification seems to be the chosen path, and gas engines will inevitably fade away by attrition eventually, its not exactly happening tomorrow! Even with localities that have placed pretty aggressive targets on electrified adoption, your still talking 10yrs before they are even the majority sold.

Current sales figures and trends do not support this claim.

https://www.iea.org/reports/by-20...-buildings

IEA says by 2030 more than 60% of new vehicle sales will be EVs.

Exa. Not everyone has the ability to just plug in where they live
While that is true, in the US roughly 2/3rds of the population live in detached single-family homes.... add people with garages in attached homes and apartments and you're nearer 3 out of every 4 households... so the market can easily get well north of 50% EVs before you've run out of people who can charge at home.

For clarity- Tesla uses Chinese batteries for the non-performance Model 3- Performance versions of that model (and all versions of the Y) use US batteries- as does the Semi and Cybertruck is expected to as well. S/X use batteries from Japan.

How long did you try the tesla for?

Radio can be controlled with steering wheel buttons (or you can just use voice command "Play X" and it'll play it)--- climate again voice command > physical buttons 'Set temp to 69' and let auto do its thing.

They also just recently did a SW update to let you configure a lot more things to be controlled by the steering wheel buttons, user can pick what.

I too thought I'd miss buttons when I moved from my Lexus, but I really don't- most things are just set to auto (temp, lights, etc) and you leave em there....

Wouldn't touch a Volvo over a Tesla today anyway. Tesla has proven their technology is solid, Volvo has done nothing noteworthy to this point with evs. Rear window visibility is going to be horrible. Hope competition keeps getting better but Tesla still beats other evs imo.

I love how they advertise this car. It's always RWD pricing and AWD specs. The AWD starts at $44k. This thing is a compact hatch in terms of size. Volvo is a niche brand, and they don't have a lot of dealerships meaning you're at the mercy of the likely only dealership in your area.

I just can't see myself buying this over the competition. It's a long wait with little info when you could get something like a leaf that might not have as much luxury but at least it's a proven product that can be serviced. Or step up to a Model 3/Y with a tax credit, or get an ID.4. I'll pass on cheap mystery cars that try to hype me up with top trim specs and bottom trim pricing.

I would never buy a vehicle I've never driven before. That's just asking for regrets. I'm going to give Tesla a huge advantage here. Test driving a Model Y was super cool, they just scanned my DL and gave me the car and said go have fun. We got back 20 minutes later driving around the area. Salesman texted me a few times after that, no pressure. Every other test drive I've ever gone on was a pre-determined route, leave the dealership, get on the freeway, go one or two exits then return to the dealership.. With the car salesman in the car with us. Tesla is so next level I was amazed.
