Small but still designed to look like a gas car with too much high blocky hood length and almost no frunk utilization.
Polestar and Volvo could step away from traditional gas car design language. For this car you have a pointless for function long hood. You suffer inside because of that misplaced priority with the unnecessary limitation of back seat legroom and less wheelbase. An MG4 is the car to compare for current design of an ev. Good rear legroom. It's got a 2705mm wheelbase vs. 2650mm for this Volvo. 2 inches right there. 4287mm length vs. 4233mm for the EX30. The difference shows in the back door dimension.

Still not too late to cancel your Model 3 order if you FOMO'd into that. This Volvo is worth the wait and wipes the floor of Tesla for less money with much better quality.

For a real world size comparison, the length and width of this are almost identical to the current 2dr jeep wrangler

This is a not a SUV by American standards. It's a raised hatchback. No one calls the Subaru Crosstrek an SUV. Also, that reviewer wastes a lot of time. The car may have no gas but he's making up for it. Doug Demuro please.
doug demuro just highlights "quirks and features" then drives it at the end without providing much detail.

I'd get one if it was a bit larger. But at 166 inch long it's too compact for me.

Still not as good a deal as the Bolt EUV, but these cars are starting to come really, really close. Hope it comes out soon.

FYI the pictures make it look like it is an Android automotive vehicle.

This tax credit almost seems to incentivize buying a new EV every year or two if you can Big Grin
the fact that it charges 3x faster than a bolt makes it a far superior vehicle.

"Retailer prices may vary." Why does it state this if the price is the price?

The Range on these EV's is laughable. Standard range needs to be 350 and extended range needs to be 400 for the average joe to take these seriously. Under 300 range is not going to cut it for people who are on the fence and don't want to waste 30 mins to charge..smh

I have to be honest. When I hear the name "volvo" I don't think of a quality car company. I think of a niche car brand that not many people drive in.

Volvo is ranked 30th in market cap size for car companies. Its a very tiny brand.. It's market cap is smaller than Rivian and Lucid. Tesla has the largest market cap by far. It's not even close. People trust in the brand of Tesla, and Elon leading it.
then you clearly aren't a very informed person. volvo has long had a reputation for quality and being the safest car on the road.
using market cap to gauge the quality of a car gets a big wtf from me.

Hard pass - 213 miles range for base model, not available until summer 2024
The standard range will not be available for purchase in the US. The starting at $35k version is 275 mile range.

If you take road trips, sure.

As a local vehicle you charge at home this difference is mostly irrelevant and factors like a larger interior might be more important.

BTW speaking of this thing being designed cheap-

LOL at the "We can't afford to put speakers in the doors... we're just gonna wedge a big Best Buy soundbar under the windshield and hope nobody notices!" design choice for the sound system in the Volvo.

The price is never the price with a legacy car company- cars are sold to dealers, who are then free to mark things up as much as they wish.

if you want "price is the price" Tesla has a business model you might enjoy.

But many people buy Tesla's even though there is no dealer nearby, making
a warranty claim difficult and possibly skewing their numbers lower..

Tesla has been the lowest rated vehicle for quality by Consumer Reports.

Built in a tent- quality has to be compromised..
Another way of looking at it is that the dealership might be the one who creates the services. And ICE cars have more parts to fail than EVs. I own the early version of Model 3 for 4 years and I was at the Tesla service center just once recently for checking up brake fluid and air filter.

But sounds like there is a workaround if you lease the car if you have a business. Assuming the income downgrade / divorce isn't an option, of course.

Any actual helpful resources on how to utilize the lease option?
https://forum.leasehackr.com/

Anyone can lease the vehicle to get the 7.5k. You don't need to own a business.

You are thinking of the old Swedish owned Volvo......they ceased to exist in 1999 when they were sold to Ford... and then even moreso when sold in 2010 to Geely.

This car is designed by Geely, in China, where it's also manufactured....and then they slap a Volvo badge on it... the same Geely platform is also being sold as a Zeeker model and a Smart model as well in other countries.

And the safest cars on the road according to NHTSA are all Teslas-- lowest chance of injury of any vehicles they've ever tested.

Wipes the floor? The volvo is inferior in literally every manner lol. Range? Heat pump? Size? Warranty? Made where? OTA frequency? Battery size?
probably made in china which is a good thing.
it's a well known fact in the tesla circles China built tesla's are superior to USA built ones.
