Small but still designed to look like a gas car with too much high blocky hood length and almost no frunk utilization.
Polestar and Volvo could step away from traditional gas car design language. For this car you have a pointless for function long hood. You suffer inside because of that misplaced priority with the unnecessary limitation of back seat legroom and less wheelbase. An MG4 is the car to compare for current design of an ev. Good rear legroom. It's got a 2705mm wheelbase vs. 2650mm for this Volvo. 2 inches right there. 4287mm length vs. 4233mm for the EX30. The difference shows in the back door dimension.

Still not too late to cancel your Model 3 order if you FOMO'd into that. This Volvo is worth the wait and wipes the floor of Tesla for less money with much better quality.

This was an initial concern when I got my Tesla, but....there's controls on the steering wheel for things like cruise speed, stereo controls, text/phone controls, and voice command prompt....(in fact a recent SW update added more ability to customize what those things control)- and physical stalks for gear and turn signals and even a button for a wiper squirt.

What else is it you feel you need physical buttons for?

Why does everyone overlook Tesla's charging network when making the comparisons? Watch Rich Rebuilds' Rivian video. The state of charging for non-Tesla EVs is inconvenient at best and pathetic at worst.

I have a pre-order down in an EX90 that I will likely cancel - big electric SUVs of this generation seem to not have the kind of range that would make them viable for long trips with the family given today's state of the USA's charging Infrastructure unless you want to spend $100k on a Rivian (which I do not). I'll probably just hold on to my 2016 MDX for now until they can sort that out.

Also, I don't spend a ton of time online so it's always funny to be reminded that there are people who still think Elon Musk is a very stable genius and Teslas are indisputably the best EVs despite tons of readily available evidence to the contrary.

Except Tesla is already opening [electrek.co] their charging network. That's like Apple opening its app store/ecosystem to non-Apple devices. What's the incentive to overpay for an Apple device when their ecosystem is no longer exclusive?

Yeah right, I'll probably get my Tesla Supertruck before I get this Volvo EX30laugh out loud
but then again if only one person orders a Volvo EX30 then maybe they can build one and deliver in 2024.

+1 - these aren't even "deals". It's just the public manufacturer pricing on a bunch of random EVs.

Please stop posting these!

Ok I got it Elon, one quarter of 2023... I originally googled 2022 (a whole year btw), so didn't see any Teslas in the top ten cars for any category last year.
So you failed to search correctly then too I guess LMAO

At least you thought to ask for help, so points for that... here ya go:

https://driveteslacanada.ca/news/...lling-car/

The Model Y was the 4th best selling car, of any type, in the world in 2022.

2023 it moved up to #1 and will finish the year there.

I doubt it'll be sustainable without subsidies though..
So, first, the IRA subsidies don't end until 2032.... almost 10 years from now.

Second- even then the facts don't appear to agree with you, given Tesla sales continued growing 30-50% every year they had no tax credits as well.... plus the fact the #1 spot is worldwide and the tax credit in question is US only. Tesla sells more cars in the rest of the world than in the US.

Because they're only opening a tiny portion of the network, not the whole thing. Last #s I saw suggested something like maybe 10% of chargers would be open to other brands (except Ford- who actually made a deal with and will be paying Tesla for access to all of em, and changing their charge ports to Tesla ports next year)

Hilariously- because most other affordable EVs have much slower charging rates (often only 150kw instead of the 250kw Tesla offers) the folks who DO go to Tesla ones with non-Tesla cars will start to ask 'Hey how come you're done charging so much sooner' and consider trading up too Smilie

Also it's an objectively better car for the $ specs-wise too, so there's that.

Also the most advanced ADAS system available to consumers in the world.

As others have pointed out- nice as the supercharger network is, most people rarely need to use it other than a couple road trips a year.... the list of reasons most EVs sold are Teslas goes far beyond that.

Why this does not qualify for 7500 federal credit?
Because it's made in China.

You can possibly work around that by leasing, instead of buying, but since the car won't even be available for another year we wont' know the details of that for a while.

Also i can only see starting price what will be the price with different options like "Twin Motor or Extended Range"
Yeah, this is a pre-order, not an actual order. Final details might change things drastically.

Because it is made in the People's Republic of China using labor from Uighur factories.

Exactly. While electrification seems to be the chosen path, and gas engines will inevitably fade away by attrition eventually, its not exactly happening tomorrow! Even with localities that have placed pretty aggressive targets on electrified adoption, your still talking 10yrs before they are even the majority sold. In addition to that, those last gas powered ones arent going to be instantly unusable, so added to that is the useful life of those too before they really start fading away. Also consider there is a sheer number of people that full EV's are just not remotely practical for. Not everyone has the ability to just plug in where they live or have the time or willing to sit at a charge station 30+mins frequently. Some people are wise to the true cost of an EV as well. Not much of a factor for those who get a different car every few years, but for those that cant afford to do that or tend to hold on to their cars for like 10-15yrs, facing a battery change is a real consideration and is anything but cheap! Granted prices for that should come down significantly in the future, but I'd wager it will still cost quite a bit and not just something on the higher end of trivial. It'll be decades before gas powered cars are really a thing of the past.
