Small but still designed to look like a gas car with too much high blocky hood length and almost no frunk utilization.
Polestar and Volvo could step away from traditional gas car design language. For this car you have a pointless for function long hood. You suffer inside because of that misplaced priority with the unnecessary limitation of back seat legroom and less wheelbase. An MG4 is the car to compare for current design of an ev. Good rear legroom. It's got a 2705mm wheelbase vs. 2650mm for this Volvo. 2 inches right there. 4287mm length vs. 4233mm for the EX30. The difference shows in the back door dimension.

Still not too late to cancel your Model 3 order if you FOMO'd into that. This Volvo is worth the wait and wipes the floor of Tesla for less money with much better quality.

So I would advice folks to look up Chinese ev burning videos. Before making Made in China Geely Volvo EV

https://youtu.be/yOA7qKMcjcE

if you don't have time, watch this first video from 15:50. there's a 3 way car crash between Chinese EV, Mercedes non EV, and Tesla. Objectively see what's the safest option for you. Burning EV starts around 4 minute mark

https://youtu.be/qKa8mVOe5so
and I would "advice" foiks to ignore this BS because the channel is a notoriously bad anti-china guy with no credibility. zero, none.

I can show you a video of a rivian or tesla catching on fire while charging. is that indicative of all teslas and rivians?
gfoh.

Still not as good a deal as the Bolt EUV, but these cars are starting to come really, really close. Hope it comes out soon.

FYI the pictures make it look like it is an Android automotive vehicle.

This tax credit almost seems to incentivize buying a new EV every year or two if you can Big Grin
Re: Purchase v Lease.

Miles limits on a lease aside, do EVs make a case of leasing in the sense you won't have to worry about eventual cost of battery replacement?

Moi? I don't like a lease cause it's the car payment that never ever ever ends. Owning on the other hand eventual pays off. But perhaps replacing the batteries upsets that idea?

There's no way dealerships honor this price. Most infuriating thing about cars, you see a lease deal on TV, oh wow that's awesome. go in to dealership, oh we don't honor that ad, it's total BS that car companies get away with that. Then with taxes and fees your lovely $299 lease per month advertised on TV, just became $550, what an absolute joke. List reason #83 of why you hate car dealerships
Never had that happen, not even with Hyundai Ioniqs. If the manufacturer (financial services) advertises a specific lease deal, they will honor that. It's only when they don't advertise a specific deal, the manufacturer can play games with the numbers and markups.

Riding lawnmowers go on clearance every fall and snowblowers go on clearance ever spring.
Ice cars will eventually go on sale when production exceeds capacity. So far this has not happened. Current demand exceeds production, dealers and manufacturers are fleecing consumers of every last $ as long as they can.

Pretty sure the ICE car came before the riding lawnmower, so if anything, when will the riding lawnmower price come down.

Dear America, stop calling hatchbacks SUVs. Thank you

Looks like nice car, wouldn't buy gen 1 car with zero reviews.
I always called SUVs lifted hatchbacks.

I hear folks mention peasing then buying out. The question is, although some states do not charge taxes on EV, am not sure about a lease to buy because you will end up paying the documentation and other shitty fees and maybe taxes too? Can someone care to explain how that math is okay and how much does one potentially save from yhat $7500?

For Bolt they will install a free charger at your home. However, they also ask you to park it away from home and other cars due to instant combustion risk. Why would I charge it in my garage with such a dire warning? We have a two car garage and there is living space above garage in our two story house. Have you seen those EV fires? I'd wait for Equinox EV (or even Blazer EV) over this. GM has more experience with EVs. Bolt includes EUV was one of the best selling EV models. Equinox has better warranty coverage (partially depending on how much you drive), slightly lower price, and qualifies for the $7500 tax credit if your income is below the threshold (poor you XD). GM also has a pretty cool semi-autonomous system that's less reckless compared to what Tesla has in my opinion. The only reason I can think of to get EX30 is if the Volvo 'aura' is important to you. But I could be missing something here.

Thanks for those videos.

Aren't there statistically more ICE vehicle fires than EV fires?
Wouldn't we be protected by the NHTSA?

I'd also wait for Sandy Monroe and Associates breakdown of the EX30.
https://www.youtube.com/@MunroLive

Sandy does mention that Tesla can discount the Model 3 by 40% and still break even. I think Tesla would rather release a $30k Model 2 before lowering Model 3 prices to keep a profit margin.

EX30 dimensions: 166.7" L x 72.3 W x 61" H
Hyundai Kona EV : 166″ L x 71″ W x 61″ H
Kia Nero EV dimensions: 174″ L x 72″ W x 61″ H
Tesla Model 3 dimensions: 185″ L x 73″ W x 56-57″ H

EX30 will look more like Kona EV. Kona starts at $33,550 and has 256 mile range. I don't think EX30 is going to be a game changer. You can go and buy Kona EV now.

Having been in the leasing biz at one point years ago, I can share my own opinion: the only folks who win in a lease are the banks.

I know this opinion can cause a lot of disagreement and that's okay. In my case I had a lot of insider knowledge that led me to that conclusion.
Ahh! I see. Thanks for the reply. I'll keep this in mind.
