Small but still designed to look like a gas car with too much high blocky hood length and almost no frunk utilization.
Polestar and Volvo could step away from traditional gas car design language. For this car you have a pointless for function long hood. You suffer inside because of that misplaced priority with the unnecessary limitation of back seat legroom and less wheelbase. An MG4 is the car to compare for current design of an ev. Good rear legroom. It's got a 2705mm wheelbase vs. 2650mm for this Volvo. 2 inches right there. 4287mm length vs. 4233mm for the EX30. The difference shows in the back door dimension.

Still not too late to cancel your Model 3 order if you FOMO'd into that. This Volvo is worth the wait and wipes the floor of Tesla for less money with much better quality.

Even for the rwd model, $35k is very competitive. At this price point, there is no competitor to match the range and charging speed not even talking about build quality, brand name, tech and etc. And based on ioniq 5, dual motor may be only 4k more.
Is Lexus UX250 one of competitors in the sub compact SUV category?

Volvo is owned by Geely and this will be built in China which explains the low cost. It looks very nice but China has not made a good car. Most Teslas sold in USA are built in USA and they keep improving build quality so I would still stick to Tesla than risk it all on a chinese EV.

At least Volvo has local dealers in our state unlike Tesla. No need to tow it 200 miles to get a loaner
My closest Volvo dealer is 200+ miles away.....

BREAKING: GM moves to adopt NACS. Please, if you don't know what NACS is, please find out.

Well, I guess that's it. Many will follow and NACS will indeed be the standard as it claims to be.

Does this car come with a built-in pizza maker?

Tesla europe sells China built cars as well. I heard Ford, BMW and Benz are doing the same. I think brand is more important than built location. Manufacturer has the same built procedure and QC.
Shame Model 3 is a sedan not a hatchback. Hatchback is much more practical.

Volvo models are no longer made in Sweden. Volvo is currently owned by the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, a Chinese company which owns over 15 other vehicle makers.

Based in Hangzhou, which is located in southeast China's Zhejiang Province, the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group launched their automotive business in 1997. They took control of the Swedish-made Volvo brand in 2010. So, the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group owns the brand, but who makes Volvo cars? Some drivers in the Laurel or Shepherd area may remember that for a brief period, Volvo was part of the Ford Motor Company, but currently, all Volvo vehicles are manufactured by the Geely Holding Group.

No thanks. Sorry but if I wanted a car from china, there are cheaper options. I don't!
Volvo continues to design cars in Sweden. The CEO is Scottish. They build their cars in factories around the world, including the USA. Geely is the parent company based in China that funds all of this. Common knowledge if you follow automotive industry news. Depending on the model, Volvos are built in: Gothenburg (Sweden), Ghent (Belgium), South Carolina (US), Chengdu, Daqing and Taizhou (China). You are correct that the EX30 is being built in China. Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen and Toyota do the same in other parts of the world.

BTW, are you using and iPhone or Android? Maybe a desktop or laptop? Guess where those come from.

You don't. This is just a preorder for a car whose full details aren't even released yet and won't be available till next year.

But all BEVs qualify for a $7500 federal tax credit for the leasing company.... (leasing avoids all the restrictions on the purchase credit like battery sourcing and income limits)

In some cases the leasing company will pass some or all of that to the person signing the lease- in some they won't.
I have very little financial understanding of this tax credit for EV's, could you help clarify? It is not money off the car, and you would only see it if you owe the $7500 in taxes? In terms of a lease, what does it mean if the leasing company passes on to the person signing? Is there a way to ensure you can get to tax credit if you're buying (e.g. withholding less; not paying quarterly taxes for a 1099; etc)?

I think Ford will have both. There are more CCS stations but worse QC. Tesla doesn't have enough stations for Ford and GM. Many supercharge stations in bay area are always full.

My lifetime efficiency over 55k kilometers on my Model 3 is about 20% better than the EPA estimates. I can't belive you only supercharged once in a year of free supercharging! Tesla isn't really a luxury brand though some people for some reason try to make it out to be. It's more a 'tech' brand though fit/finish/quality/comfort has improved substantially since 2017 or whenever you bought your Model S. What did you end up buying to replace it? My guess is a Mercedes EQS worship
My Model S is a 2019. The second day I owned it I noticed the carpet floor in the back became completely lifted off, which I could not put back myself, had to take it in. A week later, I did a hard brake and the glove compartment opened spontaneously and could not be closed, had to take it in. Fortunately, I didn't any "real" issues in the remainder of the 4 years. 12v battery needed to be replaced and was done so under warranty. The glue they used around the screen turns yellow but from what I have read it doesn't affect the utility of the screen.

Don't get me wrong, I did like my Tesla a lot. There are things I miss bout it. I absolutely loved its implementation of the steering wheel controls on my Model S (not sur how it is on Model 3/y). I can adjust temp/fan speed/recent calls, media, etc. It's so nice to not have to use the touch screen for climate control even though most people think you need to on a Tesla. Trunk space is enormous for its category (more than my wife's suv). Tons of leg room n front and back. Seats are comfortable.

The reason why Tesla is lumped into the "luxury" category is purely based on its price, especially when they were surging from 2019 to 2022.

EQS is way overpriced for what it is, and I find the look boring. I got an iX for much cheaper than a Model X. 305 miles published range, and i am getting around 380 mixed driving. 360 camera, HUD, electrochromic roof, Carplay/Android Auto, augmented reality Navigation, handles and drives like a sports car, yet comfortable like a luxury sedan. More importantly, no phantom drain.

Your surprise to my not using the free supercharger for year tells me you live in a tree hugger state. For people who are not, it is very common, because there aren't that many around. I live in the central part of the 4th largest city in the country and there are like only 3 superchargers around me, none of them within 15 minutes of the heart of the city. i know of no Tesla owner that uses superchargers on a regular basis. Electricity is dirt cheap where I am at.
