Not all teslas are made in the US. The model 3 is made in CA, Japan, Korea, China, Canada. The tax credit is based on the origin of the battery.
The battery portion of the tax credit is 3750. Half.
It's based on a percentage of the materials in the battery being produced in the US or countries with a free trade agreement with the US. Among those countries are Chile and Australia. CATL makes the M3 battery in question and Tesla has just certified that the materials used meet the percentage requirement by being from Chile and Australia. Lithium is one of those. Now the standard range Model 3 with the CATL battery qualifies for the full $7500 tax credit.

Yes, a Chinese rebrand will be better build than a US made Tesla.
Rebrand of what car? I'm not a Volvo fan by any means, but still...

Quote from funny4life :
They are not bringing Chinese built cars to US. The only thing Tesla gets from China is the battery for their cheapest Model 3. Stop spreading lies. Most US manufacturers make their cars in Mexico, Tesla has managed to keep making their cars in the US.
Even 2017 MY was 50% US/Canada, 25% Mexico, 25% Other (China?).

This year base trim of model 3 qualifies only for 50% of the tax credit. Guess why?
And again about the others Mexico made cars:

It would be interesting to know if the shorter dimensions effect the interior space since there isn't as much room required for an engine.
For this vehicle the longer horizontal hood and flat front facade do affect the rear seat legroom. In a negative way. Y is a different beast. you have a lot more distance between the mirror and the rear window. it's like looking through a slit. not great but manageable. add some tall passengers and fuhgettaboutit. wish tesla did a camera like the bolt instead.
more buttons and knobs are definitely welcome.
Touch the right most icon in the group at the bottom of your screen and the map display shown on your screen will be replaced with the rear backup camera view flanked by the side camera views. Nobody blocks those.

The Zeekr X which was launched in April 2023 and the Smart #1 which went into production late in 2022.

All are built on the same platform, same batteries, same motor all from Geely, though they each do their own cosmetic stuff to differentiate them.

This is not correct- all versions of the 3 get the full $7500 credit, same as all versions of the Y.

I won't support EV auto until price below 30k and 300 miles at least. And also my local mechanic knows how to fix em. šŸ˜†
Teslas are super easy to work on for the few things that a mechanic might work on. Brakes almost never need pads or rotors. Suspension and wheel bearings are the same as other cars. Of course, no exhaust. Tires can be done at any tire store. You can do the wiper blades yourself.

Make a list of all of the high quality electric vehicles made to date:

1.

Oh, there are none. Don't expect much from any of these companies - all products are Alpha except Tesla's which have moved to Beta.

Most are glue together ICE car conversions.

This is a Geely with a nice design. Nice that the Chinese government will subsidize the price : )

Model 3 is now a utility vehicle. Seems like they got the battery issues fixed and they will go 300K+ without much issue. Style? You can't have style when every 5th car is the same. You can wrap the hell out of it, but it is still an M3. Which is almost the same as an MY.

Crumple zones matter. Frunk is a good approach imo.
All the cars with shorter sloping front hoods and facades has safety based crumple zones. Zero need for this Volvo design to meet that requirement.

But many people buy Tesla's even though there is no dealer nearby, making
a warranty claim difficult and possibly skewing their numbers lower..

Tesla has been the lowest rated vehicle for quality by Consumer Reports.

Built in a tent- quality has to be compromised..
Yet they have the highest customer satisfaction. Also, Volvo regularly ranks towards the bottom in reliability - just look at all the problems with their best selling XC90 SUV

regarding Style --> yep, there is no style with Teslas, as with the best selling vehicle in the USA - the F150s - and yet they sell so well.
stats do not back up your claim that people dont buy vehicles if they dont have your definition of 'style'

The long hood is for crush space. Definitely not wasted.

Volvo knows a few things about building safe vehicles.
Teslas have the highest safety test scores and they don't use a longer horizontal inefficient hood design. Volvo or Geely can do the same just like MG another Chinese owned brand has done with the MG4.
