Small but still designed to look like a gas car with too much high blocky hood length and almost no frunk utilization.
Polestar and Volvo could step away from traditional gas car design language. For this car you have a pointless for function long hood. You suffer inside because of that misplaced priority with the unnecessary limitation of back seat legroom and less wheelbase. An MG4 is the car to compare for current design of an ev. Good rear legroom. It's got a 2705mm wheelbase vs. 2650mm for this Volvo. 2 inches right there. 4287mm length vs. 4233mm for the EX30. The difference shows in the back door dimension.

Still not too late to cancel your Model 3 order if you FOMO'd into that. This Volvo is worth the wait and wipes the floor of Tesla for less money with much better quality.

you say that, but the maverick sells like crazy and that's a tiny truck there's a big distinction between what people need, and what people want. apparently some cars just hit the nail right on the head, compact, crossovers, and tiny trucks.
Difference is when the tiny suv trunk is filled with that one golf bag, there's no good way to move a ton more.

Especially sad when you can stuff more into a Honda Fit than some small suvs.

...

A small truck - can stack up very high and stick out the tailgate. So even a maverick can carry a ton more than a compact suv.

...

That said, I'd agree with the new hybrid maverick. Great buy for the mpg, truck bed, 120v sockets, etc.

Read about the bed design in an automobile engineering magazine - ford really thought about usability designing it.

That's a horrible example to use for car safety, the SOB was trying to murder his wife and children because he's a miserable and depressed person.
Horrible from his point of view at the time. Not so for the other three. The car saved those three and the father may be able to recover and live a positive life at some time in the future. Human life has value even when a person makes a mistake or acts inappropriately in one instant of time. Otherwise, you and I would be long condemned for past failures. Only God is perfect.

I'm very new to cars and considering an electric or hybrid. Can you elaborate on why this build would be better than Tesla? Size aside. Thanks!
Have you ever test drive a Tesla Model 3 or Y ?
Terrible vehicles...also nothing but middle screen. not backup tire !
Test drive other brand EVs, all feels are much better, more controls with backup tire at least

I have to be honest. When I hear the name "volvo" I don't think of a quality car company. I think of a niche car brand that not many people drive in.

Volvo is ranked 30th in market cap size for car companies. Its a very tiny brand.. It's market cap is smaller than Rivian and Lucid. Tesla has the largest market cap by far. It's not even close. People trust in the brand of Tesla, and Elon leading it.

people trust the brand of tesla ? two of my colleagues bought tesla this year, both drove back to fix things fall off or has large gap on it, while tesla said it's not their fault, which people r u talking about ? ghost? And yah, not the mention the error code 500 in the middle of driving. Lolll

Is it really a workaround or do you end up paying the same amount as if no $7,500. After all monthly payments. Buyout and down payment

I looked at all the EVs. Luxury automakers (Mercedes/Porsche) are better built, but usually with worse range/charging speed/charging network/slower and far far far more expensive.
were you looking with your eyes closed?
porsche range actually exceeds EPA and their 800v charging architecture is one of the fastest out there.
unfortunately the charging network is the biggest let down.

Volvo is currently owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, a Chinese company that owns over 15 other vehicle makers.

Volvo Cars was sold to Geely in 2010 and was publicly listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm stock exchange in 2021, but Geely still retains majority ownership.

Volvo is no longer made in Sweden

https://www.underrinervolvocars.c...-volvo.htm
That is not entirely accurate. Volvos are still designed, and some of them, built, in Sweden. Some are also built in the US. And a few are now also built in China.

Thanks OP, reserved one. I don't mind that it is made in China.
We need more competition for lower priced and smaller cars in USA.

Depends on the test, but most of the articles talk about how it beats EPA range in some specific alternate test, but it's still less than model S on average, by 10-40%. Depends on the test/speed of traffic. So the speed of charging in miles per hour is worse as they have similar 10-80% times, but the Tesla has ~30% more range.

You don't notice much difference between 22 and 25 minutes. But 350 miles (real world) vs 270 (real world) may mean the difference between making it, or not. If you plan on road tripping (bit odd on a Taycan) more range is king. At least for another 2 years or so as the network gets built out more.
