Looks like a good deal? I am new to binoculars, should I get this or Vortex 10x42 Crossfire or sell for $100? For whale watching/ hiking/stargazing, I wear glasses

The Nikon Acculon will be clearer than the Vortex Crossfire. This porro prism design is generally better at the lower price point than the roof prism design of the Crossfire. An 8x will also be easier to hold steadier free hand than a 10x. Field of view will be wider on the 8x so you can see more in the view. Roof prism binoculars look cooler and are really great at higher price points.
The Nikon Action EX (Extreme) will be the step up from the Acculon series. Better glass and more rugged build.
This forum is a good resource for all things binoculars. Here is a recent thread on the Action Extreme.
Use Google and search birdforum + binocular model (birdforum Nikon Action Extreme for example) you are looking at to search efficiently.
To answer your main question, you probably won't find anything better under $100 than this Acculon. Check to make sure this refurb is covered by Nikon's warranty.
At $50 it's a good jumping off point for binoculars and you can spend more later after you understand what better glass looks like, different magnification levels, and you will have this pair to lend to a spouse, child, or friend.
