People don't pay $277 for this kit. That's the price if you were to buy each piece separately at full retail. I find it's best to ignore the crossed out numbers, as you're not paying that anyways, but to compare the deal price to past deals and what it may be available for at other places.

Good deal? Not sure I'm believing people usually pay 277 for these. Could use a couple extra batteries in the backyard for leaf blower...

Those are imaginary retail prices that are NEVER sold at that price point.

If you need batteries this is an acceptable deal, not smoking hot but good. Ridgid has the best warranty/LSA for a tool brand. Just make sure you sign up for LSA within x number of days after buying tho.

You can buy an adapter and use ridigd batteries in other tools like ryobi too.

I've heard a lot of people say that $10/ah is their threshold for a battery price. This kit comes with a charger and a bag which may add value for you. I'm considering it. It's not a drop-everything-and-buy-now deal, I wouldn't say.

This is a solid deal that has come around a few times in the past few months, enough to make it seem like the regular HD "sale" price on this combo

But last fall, there was a brief chance to get the same package, minus the bag, for $50, though it didn't last for more than a day.

There have also been some other options with the larger 6.0Ah battery you can search for.

There's also DTO, with all that implies, but I wouldn't take their "sale" pricing at face value, since they fluctuate so much, and with their shipping cost needing to be factored in. They require some more consideration and research before jumping in.

On 3/13/2023 I bought their 18V 4.0Ah & 6.0Ah Max Output Starter Kit for $85 - ($50 for cc signup) + tax = $38.54.

I just now registered for the LSA with a few days to spare.

I wouldn't be shocked if they still had some of these 4&6Ah Max Output sets locked away. They didn't advertise the discount price and had them locked in a storage shelf in some out of the way part of the store.

EDIT: Here's a brickseek link (still some in stock in WA state):

"Ah" means Amp Hours. The bigger the number, the more energy the battery holds.

EDIT: Oh, wait. I didn't get the joke at first 😅.

Isn't this a better deal? 6 port charger and 2 4ah batteries at $179?

Most of us in the Ridgid ecosystem have more chargers than we know what to do with. Ridgid used to only give out the LSA if you bought in a kit with a charger. The best deals are those for batteries without chargers.
