I was looking at the Costco deal and thinking of upgrading from the 8k to the 12k (bigger is better!). But in researching I saw that the recommendation is to stick to the BTU for your room size as the AC unit extracts out water when they run. If the BTUs are too high for the room, it doesn't run as long and you wind up with high humidity i.e. most people will be more comfortable with the correct size unit.

Prices appear to continue coming down on these units. However with Temps increasing I don't see it getting any better than this! I will be returning the one I purchased last week due to the significant price drop and coupon. Thanks OP!

Can anyone tell me if this unit is PHYSICALLY smaller than the 12K BTU? According to the dimensions stated on Amazon, they all are the same size????

If you purchased through Amazon you can try to contact customer service for a price adjustment. Sometimes they give them, sometimes they don't.

I believe last weeks post was for 12k btu whereas this is 8k btu.

This is true for the average bear. If you are like me, and like it colder than average, oversizing helps tremendously.

Having said that, this is a great deal. I have the 10k unit from Costco in my office.

They are all nearly the same size, dimension-wise. The 12k might be a few pounds heavier, but that's it.
