I've had this for a couple years now and love it, but the window is useless as it gets smoked over in like 15 minutes or so. I gave up on cleaning it and that's fine, you don't need to see in there anyway. I'm not into the ritual/hobby of smoking meat, I just want smoked meat as easily as possible and this does that. Set type temp, add chips every hour or so and that's it.

Another perspective, I was an avid user of SV too and gave it up once I got my master built gravity. Although it took a bit of trial and error plus a learning curve, the quality of meat I've been producing is light years ahead of a SV/smoke (also I've tried smoke then SV).

The master built gravity has been probably the best $300 I've spent when it comes to upping my grilling and smoking game. Excellent bark, flavor, smoke ring are evident on the food and it pairs so well with the fact that it is damn near effortless to get a 6-10 hour smoke. I light it, load the hopper, let it ride and then refill again. Literally that's it.

Lastly, the gravity can get into the 6-700* range for a sear, which neither SV not a pellet smoker can do. The crust is obviously well worth it. Plus I tend to sear and then finish in the oven (or lower temp on the gravity) anyway. Best of both worlds.

You know if I can go back, I would of bought this instead of the gravity series smokers from masterbuilt. I usually cook all my meats sous vide and smoke it at the end. To me, this has the best results. This would of been a cheaper and more practical than the gravity series.

Interesting, can you talk about why? I use my sous vide and then finish with my pellet smoker/grill. It's the Pitboss Laredo, so it has a latch that allows direct access to flames, so I can also use it for more traditional "grilling." I was considering switching to a gravity series masterbuilt but given your comment I'm reconsidering.

FYI, I believe this was ~$190 last month on Amazon. Pissed off that I missed it but am willing to wait for it to drop again. Hopefully.

If you would of waited till end of season you sometimes can score theses for $100.

The window is worthless after the third smoke but I love mine.

Bought this a little over a year ago, no regrets. The only issue I had was the sun melted and peeled the plastic cover on the digital display. Masterbuilt replaced it under warranty. Keep it covered…

I just bought this model 2 months ago to replace a heavily used 5-year old version of the same model, but without the glass door. I do like the glass door. You just wipe it with a paper towel (i use newspaper) when it's wet from smoking. This is in the first hour or so of a smoke. It's not going to be medical grade clean but clean enough to see inside.
The 5-year old model still worked fine but the bottom frame rusted out from my improper cleaning. I saved the controller and several internal parts because the new model uses the same components.
Pro tip: for better smoking performance, drill some holes in the chip pan. There are YT videos on this.

I have the analog electric and it used to trip my GFCI. I think the water tray over the electrical connection to a coil was an unfortunate design compromise. I bought a new coil and no longer have this problem.

Now the new coil won't get the smoker over 250°f which is a nuisance because I don't like having to run broken equipment at maximum, but it still kinda works since I never run hotter and I'm here on SD looking at the new model
