"HoLd ThE lInE bOyz"...just five more years and this will be under $45!

All jokes aside....wouldn't a modern integrated "GPU" blow this away? Just out of curiosity looked up some at benchmarks and my 2-in-1's i3-1215U gets much better performance....and that is hardly a powerhouse.

But if you have an older / modest machine that needs a video card, it should serve the purpose.

I'm tryna breathe more life into grandma's Frankenstein rig built from her grand children's old parts.

The only thing it's missing is a GPU but the current specs are
MSI Z170A (MS-7976)
i7-6700k (Intel HD 530)
16GB DDR4 (8x2 2400)
1TB Samsung 870 EVO
Some 3TB mechanical for storage

I was looking at bumping the RAM up to 32, 64 if I could find it cheap enough for fun but other than that im not sure what else I could throw in there.

You think this would make any noticeable improvement for streaming video quality?

some cpus dont have an igpu. you need some type of card to literally output to the monitor. could be useful for that purpose.

That is very true however I have not seen a standalone CPU (without an internal GPU) ship such a conservative graphics card in a decade (used to be pretty common before internal GPU's became the norm). Generally a prebuilt PC ships with a modern GPU or an integrated one. But I guess there could be some purpose built situation I am not considering, not sure what purpose though. Maybe our friends media server? Steamrolled is dealing with a "Frankenstein" project as he or she calls it.

No idea friend, never dabbled in a setup like that. Honestly though, not sure why you'd need so much ram for streaming.
