FYI this is available at Amazon and other retailers for the same price. These should continue to get cheaper given the current state of the NAND flash market.

Would be nice if there was an equivalent discount on the one with the heatsink.

Most motherboards have an included heat sync, and reviews online state that the Samsung Heatsink doesn't perform any better than one you'd get off Amazon.

Having said that, I bought this exact unit for $144 a couple months ago on a deal posted here, and this thing runs around 70°c at all times. Not sure why, but apparently it is normal for this one.

Yah, seems like the faster they are the hotter they get. Check out the heat sinks on the Gen5 drives OMG

Random QD is still about the same, so no real world benefit over pcie 3 for 90% of tasks

Thanks for the immensely technical reference and while true for most 90% of users or more I'm in the low percentile that is extremely storage speed sensitive Wink I ran RAID 0 on my storage for years just because one drive wasn't fast enough.

This drive had firmware issues and didn't work. Have they fixed the issue yet?

You better think twice about buying from a company owned by SK Hynix. While they make decent drives their warranty service is non existent if it fails according to reviews. They literally have no contacts for warranty service. They tell you to return it to the seller and the seller says they don't do warranty work send it to the manufacturer. Nobody will honor the warranty.

Strongly advise people not to buy directly from Samsung. Ordered this drive in April. It was never delivered. I am still trying to get a refund from Samsung after months of calls, making police reports and the like. It looks very likely I will have to take them to small claims court to get back $150. Don't risk it. Buy from someone else.
