If Poly is an unknown brand to you, this generation will appreciate you choosing the fourth R: research.

The schools teach our children the 3 Rs - Recycle (good), Reuse (better), Reduce (best).

1. Please reduce by not buying this unknown brand gadget. You will save $70 + tax and probably hours of tech support calls.

2. Instead, reuse an old monitor and old webcam which will give you similar functions. You know they work, and you will free up your garage.

3. Or buy a used monitor and a used webcam from a friend, OfferUp, etc. You can probably find better brands and features for less than $70.

Your wallet, our earth, and future generations will Thank You for choosing the 3 Rs. Peace

Does this need any additional software?

My employer blocks third party software installs.

is the appeal that this is a cheap all in one video conferencing monitor with webcam? Is there anything it offers over just a standard webcam over your monitor setup?

I'm all for the 3 Rs, but when it comes to monitors, it's a bit hit and miss as someone who is a gadget fan and worked in tech for over 2 decades. Most ppl get rid of monitor (aside from replacing w/ a bigger one) because it usually has started to develop a defect like burn-in, dead pixels, or ports started to be defective. Unless it's from someone you know, I usually do not buy used TV or monitor. THAT said, I'm still rocking my 2x 17in Dell monitors from well over 10yrs ago to complement my laptop for triple setup for remote work, and I still have 2x 20in Dells also over 10yrs ago to complement my 32in 4K samsung for personal setup.

I've been thinking about how this will work and while you can use a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, it wouldn't let you use the built-in webcam. This is more ideal for someone with a laptop that can do USB-C out for display and would ideally be able to take advantage of the webcam as well. Unless I'm missing something, for a desktop, how would you use the webcam on this monitor? I talked to a Poly employee and he said this was made before the HP acquisition so I'm not sure who made the panel. If you can use it as intended, this seems like a great price for WFH video conference user w/ laptop. Poly is a high-end teleconferencing company and make enterprise-class hardware.

I initially thought it was a really old out dated monitor but it's full featured. Webcam. Speakers. 1080p. I bet these are selling cheaply after we all went through the pandemic when things like this was a necessity

Can't speak for the webcam but for $70 you could probably only get a regular poly speakerphone.

Basically what your saying is we should throw this 70$ monitor in a landfill, then we should use the monitor we were about to throw into a land fill. And then buy another webcam and speakers. Clutter the desk.

It's a double standard because this model isn't new and it's nice and convenient because of all the features it has.
