This is so odd. There is currently a rice shortage all over the word yet Amazon is selling rice at a discount. I would be highly suspicious with this order.

Rice shortage? The india. Store here have 49 different brands of basmati rice from the best to average . Entire aisle is full off rice . Zero shortage or rice cos that's the food we Asians eat everyday not burgers or sandwiches or orange chickens

In the US, we don't physically see a shortage but instead see higher prices. Other places in the world will see actual shortages. Americans can afford to pay the most so why would suppliers ship to lower income countries when Americans are still willing to buy. Due to weather issues and the war, there is less rice production.

Here we go again...please do yourself a favor if you live in a major metro and have never bought extra long basmati from one of the brands that ranks highly here [nic.in]. Lots of Indian folks will argue their favorites and have online.

Right now I am enjoying Diwaat Ultima but have really liked India's Gate (now hard to find close to my house) and Koshinoor in the past.

There is a pretty noticeable difference between these brands and run-of-the-mill basmati like Royal and much more so than the only other comparison I can think of, teflon vs. bronze die pasta.

i have seen all these basmati rice brands that is in the link at the big Patel brother stores here but you know some of these premium brands are bit too expensive to afford. We finish 20 lb basmati rice in just couple of weeks so I go for royal, Chef secret or the local Swad basmati rice. the Swad basmati rice is bit cheaper but still not bad.

Totally get it. Different ball game when you need 20 lb bags. We rotate lots of different rice in our household so my biggest basmati is 10 lbs.

Just bought the Costco 20 lb for $28 …. But Costco says organic on the package. This one says natural sourced
