Lenovo sent out a mass email acknowledging the mistake and issuing refunds - FYI.

Watch out, I purchased this laptop and they charged my CC and extra $70 for 1-year of support that I never agreed to. I had to argue over this charge with 3 CS reps and never got the charge refunded. I returned it out of disgust.

Yeah, it's a shame this new gen is so much better, but then they took away the 500nits display from the default QHD 16inch screen. I purchased this laptop and returned it - Brightness was lacking for sure. I purchased a "Build your own" with the 500nits and 32GB of RAM for $1505 with 5% off student discount. On top of that, I used one of those deal sites and got 12% cashback.. The only bummer is it was delayed 5 weeks.. I bought it on May 22nd, and it won't be here till June 30th..

Now as for their support, I've had decent success talking with them on several purchases and returns. I have also delt with Dell support, and it was a lot harder to get any response and real person. Lenovo chat support was pretty helpful.

Thanks for the clarification. In that case what was the other guy complaining about?

This sounds like a great deal! How did you get it? When I tried to do the same, it listed for $1800 for me. Is that deal expired?

So is this a good deal? I'm thinking about pulling my the trigger on this or the Asus TUF that bestbuy has with the 4070 and i7-11th gen, 1TB SSD for $1399.. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus...Id=6535503

which should I consider?
I'd go for this ThinkPad rocking a QHD screen where you're eyes are gonna be most of the time. That asus damn near $1500 after everything settled and all you get is a 1080p screen?

Get the Corsair Voyager.

Thats a 12th gen Intel, which is a huge difference compared to the 11th gen. Honestly, I would almost take the 12700 just for the cores. Whichever is cheaper or has better Screen/trackpad

Yeah, expired. At the end of May there was a posting about it on slick deals. It wasn't a pre-built, which is why I'm waiting forever for mine.

It's the Pro 7i that has it.

Pro 5/5i alsoi have it as optional upgrade, unlike last year's Pro series where it was default screen.

Got the 4060 version at the end of May - nice, solid, sturdy machine.
DLSS3 frame generation works well.(play MS flight simulator well with just 100w USB-C charging)
300 nit screen often gets to 350, does not bother me. but it's darn heavy though.

Got this a few days ago. Enjoying it, although thicker and heavier than expected. Additional memory is arriving today. Power adapter is HUGE also. Im hoping will last longer than my HP which barley made it 3 years.

Does their gaming line (Legion) have any of the same QC issues (eg the notorious screen hinge issues) that their other lines do?
I don't think it's the hinge, but there's a slight creak at first when closing the lid on my Gen 7 pro machine. It might be the glue connecting the screen to the lid itself. I returned it for another but it still had the same issue. Not a deal breaker but something to keep in mind.

I have last year's model with a spec of 6800H, 32gb, 1tb, RTX3070ti, 500nit qhd+ screen. No complaints whatsoever - great build quality and performance and quiet when in power saving mode. Very big charging brick though.
