I grew up with the Atari 2600, I've finished every 2D Castlevania game (aside from a couple of black and white GB ones). I'm well aware of and appreciate every type of Castlevania, whether they are linear or less linear. Your opinions are fine, but clearly not popular for a reason 😂 and please don't pretend you have some unique, special insight on games that nobody else has lol

This is the hottest of hot takes and stinks of gate keeping. IMO, these games are some the best on the GBA and solid castlevania games.

quite an exaggeration. but i've come to expect it from an insane modern gaming community who think castlevania was born with sotn and don't realize that the old school games are vastly better than the ones which ask little of the player in terms of skill and are essentially walking simulators where you search for more OP weapons to replace the ones you have, with endless identical corridors and haphazardly placed enemies, with no rhyme or reason in the 'level design'. none of these games hold a candle to CV4 or 3.

still, i would get the collection if they put it out on physical. the more interesting of the CV collections (simply because these games haven't been collected a million times) and for whatever idiotic reason they choose not to.

Haha. Theres always someone. I could theoretically just inject them into my hacked 3DS so I wouldnt miss out on anything either way. My philosophy on buying games is that I buy when I am comfortable with the price. That mentality ensures I never regret buying a game for PC or Switch or Xbox or PS because I make a conscious choice. That said, I only recently got into Castlevania as a series despite my age. I played Dawn of Sorrows and loved it despite it being after Aria of Sorrows. Anyway, injecting seems like a better idea since it would be on a more appropriate screen.
I can appreciate your views 👍 but if I may, these look FANTASTIC on the Switch in portable mode.

The Castlevania Anniversary Collection has frequently been at $5, so I'd wait for this to also hit that price if you want to play it on Switch.

Alternatively, I got the RG35XX deal for $44 a few weeks ago. It's a nice handheld emulator you can just dump ROMs onto. These are 20+ year old games that are 2 to 4 megabytes in size. Up to you depending on your ethics.

I also recently discovered you can patch SNES games with quality of life improvements. Those work on the RG35XX without issue

I own this for switch. Xbox. And ps5.... Easily worth it for $12. Old enough to remember the dark screen controversy when circle of the moon came out

The only room I could play it in was the bathroom with a 4 foot fluorescent light. Kind of forgot the O.G. Advance even existed until this comment. I jumped on buying an SP as soon as it was released, primarily because of this game... Good times!

Just from this post, you sound insufferable. Are you like this in real life too?

Just my opinion, but I like the DS trilogy of Castlevania games better than the GBA trio. The GBA games felt a little samey and I was burnt out by the time I got to the third one(played them back to back). Unfortunately, the DS games aren't available anywhere outside of the DS. Maybe they're too difficult to do a simple port due to the dual screens. Konami would be that cheap.
