GameStop finally has these in stock again. Just ordered myself one. Worst case it can be returned to the store if it arrives in unsatisfactory condition.

Other stores have refurbished/used Edge controllers for $180 usually.

Not a bad deal overall, if you really needed a new one go to dollar general where GameStop gift cards are 15% off and you'll pay $20 more for new.

Agreed. And even if refurbished is ok for someone, the Dollar General deal will save them even more. Win win, whichever one you buy, when stacked with DG deal.

I had some trade credit to use, fortunately.

No, Dollar Tree does not equal Dollar General.

Are gift cards always 15% off there, or is this a limited time deal?

They have potentiometer sticks – the kind that will eventually drift. There's at least one company (GuliKit) that will be making Hall effect thumbsticks.

Hall effect for the PS5 or just the elite? Just read something on vox or arstechnica contemplating doing a swap but from what I understand the elites are easier replace

They said they'll work on Dualsense Edge first due to its modular thumbstick design https://twitter.com/GuliKitDesign...3218243585

The PS5 controller is both the best controller I've ever used and also the worst. I've bought 6 controllers due to stick drift and I'm the only one playing in my household. I bought an edge controller because they have replaceable sticks for $20 sold separately. So even if I burn through 6 more sticks, that's only $120 worth when compared to buying 6 new controllers at $60 each. Yes, I'm aware there is a way to fix them, but I don't want to do all that ridiculous amount of work and take apart sensitive electronics just to play a game. It's ridiculous, I've never had these kinds of issues with controllers my entire gaming life. I've had PS2, PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro and now PS5, not to mention starting my console journey on Atari 5200, with a consistent evolution to NES, Sega Genesis, SNES, N64, GameCube, Xbox… so while the PS5 controller is amazing hardware with amazing capabilities, they are the worst when it comes to longevity in my experience. Insult to injury, I've been burned buying 6 controllers and felt I had no choice to shell out another $200 for the hope of saving money once the stick goes bad. And it will.
Sad. I'm surprised nobody has taken Sony to task for this.

How have you gone through 6? I thought they had a 1 year warranty? I would like to get a 'pro' controller but can't really justify it at the moment given the amount of time I spend on my PS5 and having not had issues with either of my 2 controllers... Knock on wood.

I have had a ps5 since launch, my launch controller has no drift, nor does my second which is a couple years old. On the other hand, my launch edition ps4 controllers all had drift, but ps4 pro versions did not. So I call bullshit on this. Original PS4 ones were pretty bad, but later ones were not, unless you are really abusing them. I use mine daily.

I've had every major console and several controllers on each and never had stick drift except for 1st gen Nintendo Switch.

After having my Xbox Elite controllers dying every 1-3 years, I switched over to this. It's a great controller, but I highly recommend buying a long term warranty replacement with a new one. You'll end up saving money in the long term. It will wear down.
