We have Sprouts, but they don't have enough mainstream stuff to interest me on most days. There's a Trader Joe's in the ritzy part of town, definitely not convenient to me.
We have a local store, HEB, where most people take their entire family to grocery shop. Yep, mom, dad, aunt, uncle, granny & grandpa along with ALL the kids, so you can't get down an aisle just to get from one end of the store to the other without taking your life in your hands. Many local people think it is the cat's meow and say Randalls is the fancy store, while I can get deals all the time at Randalls I could never get at HEB. Can you tell why I don't shop there?
I would LOVE to have an Aldi's here, but we don't have them, Grocery Outlet or the 99Cent Store. We have one store - Fiesta - that tries to advertise like they are cheaper, but the few times I've been I can't score a deal to save my life. Beyond Randalls, HEB and Fiesta, like most people we have Walmart and Target. We also have Kroger delivery, but I don't really count that because it's hard to make a deal when you have to pay delivery fees. There is no running in to Kroger to pick something up.
What you need is a Publix and a new team of Drs.
Walgreen summer clearance is 90% off, starting today. 24 hour stores are already ringing up that price.
That's a TON of choices!

The Grocery Outlet was fantastic before covid but their supply got cut off and all they have now is junk that nobody wants and you have to watch the expiration dates. They have no problem with selling things that expire tomorrow. Speaking of expiration dates, the 99Cent Store could have things that expired a year ago. They don't care.
I don't like the vibe of Trader Joe's but I should go there. My nephew is a store manager or whatever they call themselves. I have Aldi's all over the place but it's another store that's not for me. Kroger ruined Ralphs which used to be great. Vons ruined Albies which used to be great. Stater Bros is a wannabe. It's no different than Ralphs or Vons and checkout takes forever. You might as well pitch a tent. I hate Smart and Final. They can have 20 people in line and they won't open up another register.
You're right, there are a lot of options but they all suck. There's a funny joke that I could tell but I'd get kicked off of here so I'll let it go.
I'll go more into why I don't like Trader Joes. The idea is to spend all afternoon there. You get dressed up to go. Nobody is in a hurry and everybody is on their cellphone talking about how much money they make. It's my idea of hell.
I like buying name brands and I never eat veggies so Aldi is not the store for me.
I have a Target close by but I'm boycotting them. I always get hassled no matter what I do. I go maybe once a year if that.
I started going more to Wal-Mart when they got self checkout. I have a grocery and a regular store. The problem is that the store is filled with clueless people. There's always somebody running into to you with a shopping cart and one little bump can put me into the hospital (nothing to do with my heart).
I may seem like I'm being picky but if a store wants to get my money I have to at least like shopping there. It's foolish to spend your money at stores that you hate. People just accept things like coupon limits. We should've put our foot down long ago and boycotted P&G until they got the message that we are the ones in control. Now look at what happened.

Also got some other goodies cheap with insert and the store coupons.
Target wasn't close to me so only went when in the area.
