I suspect on this model you just push the steam button then start button and steam up the amount of milk you want.

This unit doesn't have the milk reservoir, so it's easier cleanup. The LatteGo has a milk container that is dishwasher safe. On my LatteGo I only use the milk reservoir a few times a year when we have company over. It's all americanos and espresso shots for my wife and I.

The unit for sale is an absolute strong recommendation at this price if you're looking for an easy to use super automatic and have minimal use case for milk based beverages. Dump decent beans and water in, plug it in, and you get solid coffee.

Which doesn't seem quite accurate, as neither the 1200 nor 2200 (non Lattego) even have a milk carafe, let alone an "XL" sized one.

If I pore through images and product descriptions on various sites, I think the main differences between the three are:
-all three are AquaClean compatible, but only the 2200 actually includes the AquaClean filter. The 800 and 1200 don't show it installed in the water tank in the 3/4 view, and some sites say it is sold separately (about $30 on Amazon).
-the 800 has more black trim than chrome trim, namely the drip tray grille and around where the coffee comes out. The 2200 also has additional chrome bezel around the touch display. I suspect the materials might be more plasticky than metal-ly for the black trim vs chrome bits...

I suspect the innards, esp the brew group, ceramic grinder, etc, are essentially the same from the 800 all the way up to the 5400, a lot of the internal replacement parts are the same across the lineup. Mainly a matter of drink selection options and customization of settings....

I make my coffee with a chemex and have an aerocinno 4 milk frother. I get a few different beans, mostly from Stumptown, and have been looking for an espresso machine (mostly for when I brew chai, as I love a shot in my chai). This seems like a perfect addition to my little coffee bar, but wondering if it would be overkill for someone who doesn't do a ton of espresso (granted, I would prob drink a lot more if I got it).

Debating on this versus the TK-02 that I put a $250 down payment when it was $995.

https://www.terrakaffe.com/products/tk-02

This sure seems like a slick deal since it makes both coffee and espresso.

Anyone familiar with the Terrakaffe and build quality compared with Phillips?

I have a similar model but it looks exactly like this one and I like it. It makes great coffee and cappuccinos. I use the milk sometimes but I use the steamer a lot to heat up my milk and then use the coffee function for a fresh cup each morning.

Perhaps you want the ease of use, but personally, at that price point, you're close to an entry level heat exchanger + grinder for a few hundred more. Lots of manual work, but far far better quality and control without all the electronics that could go wrong.

This Costco machine is pretty basic, but it's $320 and it's Costco so very low risk to try. At this price, get it as a backup option.

As someone with a full espresso setup, I highly recommend trying this Philips super auto. I got to the point where I just didn't want to do all the work to get coffee. My machine + grinder are almost $600 combined, and while I don't regret the purchases, I do wish I used them more.

I plan to get this, and if I use it and fully quit using the other espresso setup, sell it all and call it a day.

I don't drink coffee without a milk or creamer. Are you saying this costco machine is not suitable if I would like to make things like latte, cuppacino, macchiato, mocha etc?

ELI35: How is this different from 2200 or 3200? Philips site says the 800 doesnt make latte, cappacino, mocha, etc,, but if it has the milk frother isnt that all those kinda are? Make coffee, pour milk/frothy = fancy coffee drink. Is it that the 2200/3200 does it all automatically, just stick a cup in, and it puts the coffee and milk part into one cup for you?

Here's a Phillips 1200 review. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4...ByZXZpZXdz

This guy's like a coffee snob and leans more on quality of taste comparing to more expensive brands.

I have an Intuita that I bought refurbished for $200 NINE years ago and it's still running strong. I've had to replace the pump once, two o-rings twice, and the black plastic part that the brew group slides into. Other than that the thing keeps running strong.

This deal is tempting because it looks like it has a bypass doser - where you can drop in some of your own ground coffee instead of using the beans in the hopper and the machines built in grinder.
The Intelia has a bypass doser, so I guess that was another upgrade over the Intuita. But while great in concept - honestly, in 10 years, I've used the bypass a grand total of ONE time. It's in fact more of a pain because the bypass cover is vented with slots just slightly narrower than a bean, every time I refill the bean hopper I worry whether a stray skinny bean falls into the portafilter without me noticing. I always imagine the worst if pressurized steam can't escape through an impermeable bean, though probably nothing bad would happen... ha ha

Anyways, tempted to get one of the new series, but I also realized the new Philips models are like an inch taller at 14.75", and my upper cabinets have a 2" skirt that drops down to 14" where I prefer to have the machine. So either shift it completely under and inside the cabinet skirt, 16" clearance but then very difficult to add beans, ,or move away from the upper cabinet but then it's partially obscuring a window....sigh

I had 3200 Lattego for a year now, and if you are looking for up your coffee game from pour over, this machine isn't it. It's basically one of those automated coffee machine you see in car dealerships, only in poorer quality.

So is the 3200 LatteGo better than the 800? Or are you saying don't get any of these Phillips models? Lol.

I am still doing the pour over method. Was looking into getting something automatic that makes decent quality coffee.

I'm currently using a Ninja Specialty Coffee Maker which makes espresso-like drinks. I completely get that it doesn't make actual espresso per se but the capuccinos & lattes I make taste pretty good to me. Tempted by this deal though, to get a super automatic that I'm not paying super high prices for.

As far as I know, all of these super automatics use the same exact brew unit, even non Phillips ones. They make acceptable coffees, rather than "decent."
