Just an anecdotal experience with Lenovo Support to consider:

I had a Lenovo Legion laptop that had some hardware/performance issues. I spent at least a dozen hours dealing with their support, including 2 on-site visits at my home to swap parts, and the issue was never resolved. Their support system was extremely hard to navigate and hours spent waiting on hold multiple times. I ended up selling the laptop, at a loss, and buying a different machine just to be done with dealing with Lenovo. They lost me as a customer permanently based on that experience. YMMV

For those who have this laptop and have upgraded it, how much ram did you upgrade to? How did the laptop handle the upgrade? I have a Lenovo with 2 x 8G sticks of ram and I'm considering upgrading to 2 x 32G sticks. Does anyone with experience upgrading your machine have thoughts about the potential upgrade? Thanks in advance.

This is a fair price to pay for a higher mid grade laptop. I personally owned one for a year and it runs everything at qhd on the highest settings.

You know what , it's not worth it.
It is 5800 cpu which is old.
3200 mhz ram which is old
512 hdd which is low
Refurbished... deal killer.

Just not worth it for $950.

mine: $1199 walmart! [walmart.com]
* NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB DDR6 with ROG Boost up to 1752MHz at 140W 1702MHz Boost Clock 50MHz OC, 115W 25W Dynamic Boost
* Latest AMD Ryzen 7 6800H Processor 8 cores 16 thread, 20MB cache, up to 4.7GHz
* 15.6" WQHD 2560 1440, 165Hz, 3ms IPS-Type Display
* 16GB DDR5 4800MHz RAM
* 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD
* ROG Intelligent Cooling thermal system with Thermal Grizzly Liquid Metal Thermal Compound
* ROG AURA Sync System with 4-Zone RGB Keyboard, White backlit Logo and RGB Light Bar
* Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2
* Windows 11 Home

Rather pay $200 more for this.
I know its 3060 vs 3070 but just saying you have better options.
Heck find a ASUS Advantage Edition with a AMD GPU 6800m if you want GPU for cheep.
$200 more for a weaker GPU, a much dimmer screen, and a chip that is one generation newer but still not the latest. Plastic chassis vs aluminum? To each their own.

Ram and SSD can be upgraded relatively cheaply….and both of these should be upgraded if you plan to use them for gaming.

I'm looking at a different configuration as I also want a newer chip, but I think this is pretty fair for what you get.

That comment would be worth while except this is a refurbished from jo blow.
This display is plenty bright I don't use my laptop on a picknic bench.

Have you ever held an ASUS Rog Strix laptop before? Plastic vs aluminum.. I could give a nats ..s
Pushing down for any flex in the keyboard and there is none, it is solid.

Weaker GPU.. I fullly agree, but their are better choices for new.

This model, you are going to pay $150 for a 1tb ssd anyway, you are going to swap out that slow secondary timings 3200mhz ddr 4 ram anyway. Realistically say, $280 for ssd and ram.
..on top of $950?

This is like the Zepherous ASUS laptops.. pieces of shi. Too hot, slow timings ram.. soldered ram.. secondary timings ram.
How are you getting 280 for ssd and ram? Thats like 70 to upgrade to 1tb sdd and 50 to upgrade to 32gb ram. The ram you could resell to offset the cost and leave in the ssd.

You know the only reason the Zephyrus seems hotter than the Strix to you is because the Strix is plastic right? If it were metal it would feel just at hot as the Zephyrus. If you look at running temperatures between the two the Strix actually has a lot of situations in which it's internal temps are higher than the Zephyrus under load. The only things the Zephyrus is consistently hotter in are idle temp and external temp.

Although 2x32 GB will work but it may have stability issue.
