Other than "It's available now", why would you buy a 3060 at $300 now instead of waiting for the 4060 at $300 [tomshardware.com]

Are these any features on the 40-series that this misses out on?

Ray tracing is better on the 40 series, but that's not relevant at this price point for most users. At this price I'd get 6700 xt

DLSS3 and Frame Generation. This is actually an awful deal. If you care about DLSS, you should get the 4060, if you care about raster performance, you should get the 6700XT, if you care about VRAM for modern games, you should get an A770 16GB.

Does it matter? 3060 price will go down after 4060 release

Awful for all the reasons you said. But there are a decent amount of people using high VRAM cards for deep learning work. if you need to use CUDA it must be an nvidia card.

This. This post should be a warning and not a SlickDeal; do not buy.

I would wait for the 4060 at the same price on 6/29. Better DLSS, Better Ray Tracing, and Better rasterization performance.

two years ago? I will use that money to buy Nvidia stock instead of their product.

Seems like this is about the same performance as a 1080ti? I'm looking to upgrade to something a little better for 1080/60fps to hold me off. If that's the case just get a used 1080ti for less on ebay.

Same-ish performance in FPS. Sure.
But 3060 uses way less power to do it. 247 vs 205 watts. Yes that will show up on your electric bill. Not like enough to starve you or anything stupid like that.... but enough to "make up for" having been cheap and bought a slightly cheaper but more power hungry card.
+ 3060 is an RTX card with all the benefits of RTX like ray tracing, DLSS, etc.

Anyway, just my comments based on comparing only these two cards.
