Late to the thread but wanted to call out that it seems Samsung switched from a 10bit panel on the G50 and G52 to an 8bit panel on this G51. Colors will still pop but the panel can only produce 16.7 million colors vs. over a billion.

This cost saving measure is partially why this appears to be such a strong deal vs. last year's model.

Also, the G50 and G52 were IPS.
I have this monitor and it is not bright enough for true HDR. I keep it off.
Note that this is a Best Buy Deal of the Day, so this price is only available today (June 17).

2 hdmi 2.0? 1 dp 1.4? Is that correct? Hdr gets to 300 nits same as hdr .. can anyone tell me if there is a way to get qhd hdr from the Xbox series s to the monitor... would an adapter work? From the dp 1.4
HDR isn't compatible with 1440P (QHD) on Xbox. This monitor doesn't have real HDR, anyways. You'd just plug the Xbox up to the HDMI 2.0 port for 1440p SDR, though.

Got this model on sale for 279.99 around 2 months ago and it's a really nice monitor. It's definitely the best looking monitor I've ever owned. I feel like at 32" it's borderline an issue that it's only 1440p, but with gpu sharpening it's fine.

It has to be 4k to get hdr signal on xbox and ps5? RTINGS MONITORS DONT mention that at all

The series s he has idc about hdr but the ps5 I do .. also hdr on a streaming device as he watches youtube and Netflix

I think they mean something like a fire stick or nvidia shield tube thing.

Both of those consoles can download apps to watch Netflix, Twitch, and YouTube. If they really want to have the streaming stick, you'll need a HDMI switch/bus thing. They can be pretty cheap at around $10. If you want to go big, you can get a nice audio amplifier that has multiple HDMI inputs that will switch your inputs for you. I don't know if that adds latency for gaming.

So tempted. My M27Q just died; in RMA process right now. Wish I knew right now how well (or if) Gigabyte will resolve the failure.

Everyone expecting VA to look good for motion, which is the whole point of smooth high-refresh gaming, I'd highly recommend IPS not VA. I got a really nice VA panel from LG with 165hz that looks worse than my son's ips at 75hz. It's the most oversold tech for how unsatisfactory the performance is. It'd be like buying the fastest hard drive (the spiny kind) today and thinking it's as good as an NVME or ssd. I don't think there's a low enough price for me to spend on any VA panel, just sharing as VA owner.

Personally, I'd choose a compatible hdmi switch or a capable surround receiver.

Not sure about this monitor, but my Samsung has two hdmis, one is a 75hz, the other is 50hz. So, in order to use this monitor and its capabilities, you'd need to use a switch and cables capable of 1440p and 120hz.

That's more of a 1080p card, although it'll still run many games just fine in 1440p. If high frame rate matters more to you, I'd say stick with 1080p. However, if you plan on upgrading to a 1440p GPU down the road (and your current games run fine on 1440p), this would be fine as well. I'd say look up game benchmarks of the games you actually play on your GPU and see if it's capable of 1440p.
The 6650 us perfectly fine for 1440p. I have the 27 with the 6600xt which is pretty much the same card. Just don't run everything at the high setting and everything will run at 1440p perfectly fine... Also remember you can still run games at 1080p on a 1440p without any noticeable quality difference.

But yes if you want to run everything on ultra, it will not be good, lol...
