This takes some gymnastics which people may not fully understand.

Activate the new phone by itself, create a new Tracfone/rewards account use your primary account referral code. Your new account will get 2500pts, you get 5000pts (or more). On day 61 when all points vest, unlock the new phone, and use 2500pts in the new account to buy 2GB of data leaving you 500pts. Then move this new line to your primary account, and merge services into your main line.

Summary: your main line is plus 10 months/1500 min/1500 text/3500 MB data, and you harvest 5000+pts.

Worse than before? Of course! Decent deal as is? Yep!

OPs answer to your question is wrong. You can select existing customer during activation so you can transfer your existing number and minutes to this phone. Then the plan time and the minutes/data will get merged together. I've done it many times and it works just fine.

You need to move that other line to your account first, it'll send you an SMS to verify that you have that line in possession.

End of last year for some reason it refused to merge 2 lines in my account into my ATT Tracfone Sim - multiple CSRs tried it, so i moved the spare line into another family account, and merged it there into a Verizon Tracfone Sim line.

You first activated the new line, and created a new account for it with a new email address? Gmail asks for a phone verification, but you can use this new Tracfone phone number immediately. Then you put the referral code for this new account from your main account, and collect bonus in both accounts as I discussed.

off topic, but relevant to tracfone. Instead of this deal, i bought the 2 pack flip phone with service, needed more "time". my question is if I activated the flip on a separate new account, and use the refer code from my primary. later on, If I "upgrade" my flip phone to my existing smart phone in less than 2 months after activation, can both account still receive the referral bonus ?

Better wait for all points to vest first. I once tested a SIM swap from a recently activated line (and new phone), and then put it back. Tracfone thought that the 2nd phone has the SIM forever, and denied unlock on the 1st phone (that's when unlock took 360 days). I also had something screwy with referral points, never got those back. Basically, you want to move in deliberate stages, knowing when you can proceed trouble free.

Merging 2 lines can absolutely be done with chat agent, but I was wondering if there's a way for DYI online. I saw Add a Line in your account has an option to merge lines, not sure what that does. Anyone had such an experience before?
