Also does anyone know if we can add a remote button that we can put on a night stand or stick to a wall or something, or can we get 3rd party buttons that does that through alexa?

Lutron has their Caseta line which has an option to use their Pico remotes on a bedside table etc., but again a hub is required along with having to use their wall switch and a Pico remote - $65

I really can't believe there aren't simple solutions to these like you said routines button. I know there are ones that would have to be plugged but I thought maybe something like you plug the smart switcher to the wall, then when you use smart switch (or basically one that looks like a smart outlet) to trigger action, it moves into routines.
You know, like turning on/off imaginary light bulb, but it has a low frequency/battery compatible "local switch". I know it's kinda nonsense and I am making it more complicated unnecessarily but just a lesson before you invest in smart switches/dimmers, better double check the expandability and compatibility.
The status updated a bit slow in HA (a second or two), so I wasn't able to use it as a virtual button for the lights, but when connected normally, they respond very quickly to HA telling them to turn on, so I still use them in places where I don't have smartbulbs and actually want it to control the power going to the bulbs.
One item of note is that Unifi shows all of them with very poor signal quality. Other smart switches in the same wall show as excellent ... I still haven't had any issues with them connecting though, but, YMMV.

Phone widgets work just fine, though.
You may set up some server script to build up logic, especially 8f you have home assistant or something similar. It's not out of the box ready solution though

I might just use an old phone and make it always-on smart home controller.
Are there apps that I can design my own, or maybe does alexa have skins for that? I can just have one for bedroom with A/C controls, door status (locked/unlocked) and maybe "sleep mode" button and the light switch?

Agreed no hub needed for local control, but the starter kit includes the hub, and is currently cheaper than the switch/Pico remote kit alone ($54.95 right now, but it's Amazon so that deal may expire at any time):. The hub and phone app offer a "Smart Away" scene which will randomize lights turning on/off if you are out of town:
