FYI... depending on which Garmin watch you have, you may want to check your latest watch firmware to make sure some of the features that this pod does aren't now supported with purely wrist based hardware. I know my Garmin Forerunner 955 just recently got all that about 2 weeks ago without the need for a pod.
So did the Forerunner 945 LTE.

"Watches Compatible With Wrist-Based Running Dynamics

The following watches will support wrist-based running power to calculate five running form metrics without the use of a running dynamics accessory. For all six running form metrics, you must pair your watch with an HRM-Pro series accessory or other running dynamics accessory that measures torso movement. For information on wrist-based running power, see your owner's manual.

NOTE: Ground contact time balance is available only with a compatible running dynamics accessory.

I'd respectfully suggest everyone discuss with a professional (doctor or physical therapist) before giving up anything. Particularly doctors and physical therapists that have a running background.

Is this the one where Christopher Walken explains how he smuggled it into the country?

PSA to runners: Pay attention to your knees, and switch to biking, swimming, or another low impact exercise once they start showing signs of pain/wear. Don't push on, especially as you get into your 40's and 50's.
I'm assuming you've paid the price?.. I wouldn't mind hearing some details.

I'm turning 46 in a few months and have been running 5+ miles a day 5 to 6 days a week since I was 15 (no real downtime) and have never really had any significant injuries from sports in my life until recently when I broke my leg and tore a ligament running in snow at the very end of March. Had to have surgery and just recently started jogging 2-3 miles again but am not yet up to what I'd call a real run by my standards due to trying to limit the pounding of a fast pace on a healing leg/joint.(following 10% rule as I build up my mileage threshold). I've always tried to do as much of my mileage as possible off road on dirt paths and woods trails (for joint considerations, air quality, and peacefulness) but am going to really have to be careful getting back into that terrain with this ankle.

I recently bought a stationary bike but can't see myself using biking as my sole source of cardio, and I don't have any real access to a pool (and suck at swimming anyways). I'm hoping this leg returns mostly to normal but am not certain that it will and could be at a crossroad as far as my style of exercise.

Check out knees over toes guy on YouTube. Your doctor should help as well

I wonder just how accurate is this compared to something like a Stryd pod?

I have it and rarely using it now but it gets good metrics. It can survive a cycle in the washer and dryer with no issues. Garmin has much better support now to get metrics from the wrist based sensor

We run thousands of miles per year, are all in our 40s and early 50s and have broken/torn just about everything in our bodies cumulatively - but I've never known anyone to have knee problems from running. ha ha ha

I believe the HRM pro does running dynamics as well
