After 40 years of cooking, I have not noticed an apprciable difference in slickness with wood handles v. poly

Polypropylene handles aren't the best for long use, they "can" get slippery from hand sweat or residual moisture coming off of the food you cut. With that said, Zwilling has a great reputation and are known for quality steel.

I'm not ususally someone who recommends sets, but these are the most important and useful size knives any home chef would need. I personally have a 20 year old 6" Zwilling chefs knife that is one of my goto everyday cutters.

If you like the price, you'll like the knives.

(The block is a toss in, it's all about the knives here)

I had been waiting for a small set like this because I've had huge blocks with 12 knives before and it's just a mess to keep track of them all and then you don't use half of them.

slick deal. These do have the full bolster, if that bothers you (It does not me). The Four Star line is made in germany, is forged, and I think is considered one of their better lines of knives.

Their 5.5 Utility 4star is also on sale for $39

I have the 4 star chefs knife for 6 years now and use it every day. Fantastic knife with occasional sharpening. Still cuts my fingers like its brand new out the package :-)

I remember spending this much for an 8" chefs and a 4" pairing set a few years ago at BBBY. Love those knives. You can also get an additional 20% off coupon by referring a friend (or a different email address of your own).

They're 89 at Walmart and Overstock but sold by Zwilling. It's a recent price drop to match Zwilling site. I've never seen these lower than $179 on sale
