Can finally replace my really old logitech 2.1 that finally died.
There's no real way to get around the idle power consumption amounts, since they can't be turned off. Other than that, these are desk speakers for me, so when I'm away from my desk/overnight I turn down the volume knob to avoid any humming — which has only been noticeable when it's dead silent in the house and the volume knob is at least at 50 percent.

It's not quite the same as my 4 year old version. The bass doesn't get distorted as easily.
I turn mine off with a remote switch.
