I bought this last week for 17.99 on Amazon so it looks like they're still playing the pricing game the cool part of it is a lot of people still buy it as long as they think they're getting a deal

This has been a pretty standard price over the past year. It did spike up to $28 for a few months.

Edit: Never mind. After calling Target, it's not because they're packing stuff up, fall stuff hasnt been unloaded yet. So the rakes are still in the shipping containers.

Same. Got it from Lowe's as it was labeled with the World's Best Shovel by some magazine. Still using it after a decade. Most normal shovels seem to break after a few years.

As long as you're doing normal shovel things, that is correct. I broke a wood shovel trying to rip out some giant, well established invasive honeysuckle from our yard. Bought this instead and got through a few more before eventually bending the handle. Brought it back to the store and they gave me a new one, no questions asked. After that I switched to chopping the roots up with an axe, and then digging those pieces up.
But yeah this is by far the best shovel I've ever used.

I've had this shovel for about 5 years now. Dug literally tons of dirt with it. Super tough and nearly unbreakable unless you are doing something dumb like using it as a pry bar. All steel construction so it won't be great if you hit something electrical. Lol2

Adding more appreciation for this shovel: I've had it for a decade and it's tough (and heavy) as heck.

I would buy another if something ever happened to mine.

I would try this one for digging and cutting roots. This one is indestructible. Radius Garden 22011 Root Slayer Shovel, Red https://a.co/d/13VMINF

Agreed. I've abused mine and it never failed to include moving and leveraging landscape boulders. I bought mine in 2010, still rock solid.

Bought my second (at this price) a month or two ago. My first was (regrettably) abandoned when I moved.

As others have said, this thing is well nigh indestructible.

That looks amazing, fortunately it's a job I don't plan on ever doing again!

I bought this for $25 from Target last year and it has certainly earned its keep. I used it to dig out the roots of a mature laurel bush and it was solid with no damage taken. I'm fairly light and could put all my weight on it to leverage it and pry the bush out. The wooden handle shovel that it replaced snapped in half trying to do the same task.
