Kenmore just rebrand from other manufacturers. You have to look at the model number prefix to find out who's the actual maker. this one is made by Daewoo. tons of bad reviews on Amzn. I would avoid.

It's amazing that in the past 30 years we have managed to make fridges worse than we did 50 years ago.

Those reviews are bad, I may still take a risk since it's super cheap.

Samsung, LG and pretty much every Korean brand are complete trash when it comes to appliances. They create more trash for landfills than necessary because they want you to keep buying their appliances like a subscription.

I dont have a particular model recommendation. Just try to stick to those brands. Costco is easy to work with, but still only provide 90 days to return. They do extend the warranty to two years, but most credit cards do that too. The GE profile line does provide a 5 yr compressor and sealed system warranty, but probably more than you want to spend. Personally, I wouldnt buy an extended warranty if you get 2 years already unless it was super cheap.
Thanks

Interesting that so many people are crapping on LG. We were fridge shopping over the weekend and the salesmen we talked to all recommended LG over other brands, and pointed to how well they rate on CR.
All depends on the model. Every company has bad products put out

I agree 100% ! I felt helpless when I was trying to find anyone who would service my 4.5 yo LG that stopped cooling. I found out that only 5% of the service companies in the DFW area would touch it. Lucky for me I had 6 months of warranty left. They are sending me a pro rated check instead. LG could not find anyone to service my fridge either. I have a 25 yo top freezer Kenmore f made my GE, still going strong sitting in the extremely hot garage. No more Korean fridges in my future!!!

Wow never seen a fridge so cheap.
I have a similar frigde, Kenmore, looks almost the same except ice maker is in the door.

Main issues - I've had mine since 2013:
1. Compressor died at 4years 1 month, 1 month past the warranty. Cost like $600-700 to replace
2. Ice maker has been annoying since Day 1. Ice will freeze to each other and get stuck pretty often.
3. The french door separator has broken and had to be replaced. They're not cheap.
4. The plastic containers inside the doors, most have cracked

My model is 795.72033.111

I thought K-Mart and Sears are the only stores that carry Kenmore. After they died out, the brand also disappeared too?
The brand name has value, and during a bankruptcy the creditors and investors want to get paid. Therefore brand names are sold during bankruptcy or before bankruptcy (That's part of the process of trying to save the company or extract as much dollars as possible) for hard cash. That's what happened with Kenmore and Craftsman

Based on the reviews on Costco's website, I would avoid this Fridge. Looks like they slashed the price to get rid of a defective model. Too bad.

Our LG sucks. And we bought it because CR said it was good. I no longer will buy LG and will not trust CR ratings on fridge's

Exactly. The SS is already sold out in my area. I guess if you never use it no harm there but get ready for repair bills.

I mentioned to my sister to not buy one of these and she has a Kitchenaid which is the second from the top tier. In under 5 years I have already replaced the ice maker once. Now we have this game where every test I do passes but at times the ice maker stops producing ice. I get to kickstarting it back again by going into the diagnostics mode and forcing water into the ice maker.

Make sure you clean the coils once a year. I think I missed one year and it actually made this issue worse for her. Now it has been several months and the issue has not come back again.
How do you clean the coils?
You got to open the fridge to reach the internals?

LG come with 10 yrs compressor warranty. You shouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket.
But yes, I have LG as well, replaced the compressor twice in the last 6 years. LG warranty does live up to it's promise, they even issued a reimbursement check for the food wasted. It's just pain in the ass during those couple days. We would never buy another LG fridge.
Well… @?$&. I looked all over LG's site and only ever saw 1 year warranty for fridges so I called a local repair shop instead of LG. I'm surprised and little pissed the tech didn't mention it as I told him the fridge was only 4 years old. This happened a little over a month ago and we've already replaced the fridge. Hopefully someone else reads this comment before they replace their still-in-warranty LG.

It's a good idea to find out what the brand of the compressor is. We had a 3-year old Kenmore Elite and the freezer stopped working. Turns out the compressor was branded LG and it failed and it costs $400 for parts and $300-$500 to replace. We ended up cutting our cost and got a new one.

My son had this model actually purchased from Sears and made by LG. LG did not cover the Kenmore branded units when they were having all the early compressor problems so he was SOL and his is one of those now clogging the landfill at an early age. Sears by the way was no help resolving the issue either.
