Kenmore just rebrand from other manufacturers. You have to look at the model number prefix to find out who's the actual maker. this one is made by Daewoo. tons of bad reviews on Amzn. I would avoid.

It's amazing that in the past 30 years we have managed to make fridges worse than we did 50 years ago.

Manufacturers need more customers. If they build something that doesn't break, they will run out of customers quickly. Look at what happened to Instant Brands (Pot).

It's strange to see Costco selling Kenmore. I always thought Kenmore was a Sears house brand.
I believe Sears sold that brand along with Craftsman tool when they needed money to get out of bankruptcy

LG makes this fridge, which answers why it is so unreliable. Any fridge made by LG or Samsung, RUN! Even with a warranty, be prepared to wait for parts. I handle equipment breakdown claims for homeowners insurance and I am speaking from both research and experience.
Are LG/Samsung TV as unreliable? DO they break down frequently?

You can thank government energy requirements for that - It's tough to make a reliable fridge when the refridgerant you need to use is so bad for compressors.

Sears sold off everything it could, including all its in-house brand names, warranty and repair centers, home improvement business, etc. It's back out of bankruptcy, but only owns a handful of stores now.
While other brands have been sold off, Kenmore is actually owned by whatever is left of Sears. Costco bought the appliance logistics/delivery arm of Sears a few years ago, which is why I guess they have a 'loose' relationship with some Kenmore items. (My folks bought a Kenmore washer a few months ago from Costco. Must have been an overstock model or something as it's no longer listed for sale.)

Also we recommend you stay away from LG and Samsung for all appliances. They have known design issues and parts are usually expensive.
Every Samsung appliance we bought pooped out within 5 years (washer, dryer, and fridge).

Totally different. All samsung/lg appliances avoid. Tv's are great in my experience with them.

We will see, are samsung washer and dryer just past the 6 year mark with no issues so far knock on wood. But we did have a samsung TV that bezel started to melt even though the TV was still working.

I have this one. Repair person from Costco is supposed to be at my house today to fix it. Bought less than two years ago!

Bad reviews but price is really good so might be worth the risk.
How about you just send me the money you pay for it? Worth the risk? Wink

Interesting that so many people are crapping on LG. We were fridge shopping over the weekend and the salesmen we talked to all recommended LG over other brands, and pointed to how well they rate on CR.
The salesmen?LMAO Commissioned or incentivized? CR? Aren't they a factually non biased, non-profit entity that totally redefines a product's reliability and supposed consumer value? LMAOLMAOLMAO
