Kenmore just rebrand from other manufacturers. You have to look at the model number prefix to find out who's the actual maker. this one is made by Daewoo. tons of bad reviews on Amzn. I would avoid.

I think my assessment here is correct though: Too many compromises for a french door fridge with this volume. Just buy a traditional 2 door top freezer if you need a mid-sized fridge.

Right? I still have my grandparent's harvest yellow gold fridge in my garage in the Texas heat. I think it was manufactured in the early 70s. Since I lived at home, we went through at least 4 refrigerators and this one was for extra storage. It still presses forward and as far as I know this tank has never had any maintenance and survived 2 moves. Amazing machine.

We fell for one of these Kenmore monstrosities a couple Black Fridays ago. You can only get parts through Sears Direct if at all, at a cost many times higher than the generics that fit most fridges. "Parts" includes frequent replacements like water and air filters. It also includes the cheap plasric pieces that broke within weeks of purchase. Just had to shell out $15 for an "air filter" that's the size of a silica gel packing tablet (and probably IS one).

Low quality plus vastly higher long-term cost of ownership. Avoid.

Avoid if you can, we paid full price. 6 repairs and eventually was able to get it replaced under warranty. Every tech that came out said this brand is terrible.

Just ordered one as a backup fridge.

My whirlpool had a repair last month and it cost $750 to fix the repair. This one is good for the price as a backup one.

I checked Danvers, Ma and the woman's response was, "No, we don't have those in warehouses."

Now Costco does sometimes have the same items under different item numbers in the store than on the website, and she didn't search beyond the item numbers I gave her.

The appliances brands these days relies on economics rather than building superior quality products. Instapot may be a best example of what happens if you build a product which is highly reliable. All of these big name brands including USA made Whirlpool follow the same policy and they need repetitive buyers. They make money on parts, provide employment to the repair guys...
