I got a vertex which probably solved this problem and I'm happy with it except it will eat up my area rug unless I put it on hard floor near the edges. What causes this (I think) is the 'fins'. If shark kept the brush roller of the apex instead of the fins roller for the new line that wouldve been good. But for marketing purposes they probably landed on top with the 'new and improved' bs hype.
As far as suction stratos is either better than vertex or the same.
Btw I had an apex for 4-5 years but I put it through hell so I'm not blaming shark that mine has scoliosis and can't stand up or use the roller unless perpendicular to the ground.
There is a plus: I can use the same attachments and many parts from the old apex on the vertex and I suspect you can do this with the stratos.
Lastly, I bought a Dyson ball before vertex and I could write a book of complaints (takes 3x's as long, switch for hard floor on bottom, hose must be stretched out using a lot of strength or it won't work or break from 90 degree wrap where the handheld wand is located, On an area rug Dyson was a 20lb weight and ithe the flimsiest plastic ever imaginable and I'd give it a month and maybe less than that for the hose. (I tried it for 2 weeks before it went back)

0 chance of ever buying another refurbished vacuum, let alone other Shark… also they both have broken various pieces and I just threw one out after two years.

Anyone know if I can use the vacuum without the dial/cap attached? I tried it out and it seems to work without it. Or should I just tape over the hole? I don't really need the odor neutralizer functionality.
